Depends if it's two legs or not. If its over two legs then it's the aggregate score, if not, then its the half time score.

o.O I'm not American and I have no idea what you just said.

Then again, I'm also not English, so maybe it's just a language barrier thing. :p

I'm talking about the lesser spotted football. Hunted in the jungles of england, it flees predators on two chubby legs. Some subspecies have only one leg, hence your confusion. :p

Some games of footy (usually club tournaments) have two legs - a home leg and an away leg for each side. One side plays at home, then the other does. The overall score after the 2 games have been played is called the aggregate score. Often during the second match, the aggregate score is displayed in brackets alongside the score for that match.

The other possibility is that when results are being shown on a football round up, the score at half time is shown in brackets, just so's you know.

Please don't pout. :(

1:1 (a:b)

a is the number of innings before the first score
b is the points spread or a * if it's a draw

This is for gambling purposes, which is legal outside the US.

When they say Italy 1:0 (0:0) after a 1-0 win , what does the 0:0 mean?

(0:0) was the score at half time.

If you saw Armenia 1:0 Uzbekistan (0:0) (Agg 3:0) it would mean that the full time score was 1:0 to Armenia, the half-time score was 0:0 but there has been a game played earlier (like a 2 game series but the scores are added up rather than the wins tallied against each other) whic ended 2:0 to Armenia making a total of 3:0 to Armenia.

I hope this hasn't confused you too much.

Stop trying to confuse the poor US people.

The numbers in brackets are the modal difference from the predicted number of goals scored by each team. As given by the EPL-La Liga official odds.
So A 1:0 B (0:0) means that The predicted number of goals for team A was 1 and for team B was 0. (0:0) is good news for the bookies and bad for the punters. (3:3) or the like is good for you if you bet away from the prediction.
