So, what do you think is the future of sports?

Will we see gladitorial blood sports in 100 years?
Rollerball? Deathrace 2000?

Will sports be less violent?

What new sports will we see?

I see more technologically mediated sports appearing. Perhaps robot team sports, perhaps just human abilities augmented by technology. The first changes will be the introduction of automated refereeing systems. (offside calls, tennis line calls, strikes and balls etc.)

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you now, the rage of the future...

QUANTUM SOCCER

A summary:
"In the game of Quantum Soccer, the aim is to shape the wave function of a quantum-mechanical “ball” so that the probability of it being inside one of the goals rises above a set threshold. This is achieved by using the motion of the players to alter the energy spectrum of the wave function: when a player moves across the field, the energy that this action provides (or absorbs) enables transitions between certain modes of the wave function. The pairs of modes involved depend on the player's velocity; the exact rules are spelt out in the mathematical details, but it's easy to experiment using trial and error."

OK, maybe it's a bit too far-fetched to be possible, but it's interesting, nonetheless. There's a short story describing a game of it here (http://gregegan.customer.netspace.net.au/BORDER/Complete/Border.html), and a technical description (including an interactive version) here (http://gregegan.customer.netspace.net.au/BORDER/Soccer/Soccer.html).

as the humanity become worse phisically, we will probably get only computer/mind game in the olympic games. they may involve unknown technology, but this is the main direction.
