Should veterans take the free monitoring or hold out?

The VA wants to offer 12 months of credit monitoring for all the vererans and acttive duty personnel whose names were on the list that was stolen due the the incompetency of a VA employee.

There is a class action law suit that seeks $1,000.00 in damages and indefinate credit time for credit monitoring.

So, which one is best? Some of us have already paid for credit monitoring. Here is the complete story.

i don't know what credit monitoring means. is it where they monitor activity done in your name so they can tell if someone is using the stolen personal details and then catch them?

There are three credit reporting agencies in the US. With credit monitoring, you are notified any time someone makes an inquiry about your credit. It does not stop fraud or identity theft but it can help you to prevent it or catch it early.
