International Amber Alert (Child Rescue Alert)?

In the USA, there is an Amber Alert System (Child Rescue Alter in the U.K., though this is not yet nationwide). There is also a Canadian Amber Alert System.

What the system does is basically broadcasts an immediate alert (on television for example), interrupting whatever programmes are showing, to tell people of a missing child. The criteria for the alert may be different for different areas, but it's basically this or something like this: a child has gone missing... there is sufficient information for an alert to be justified... there is serious concern for the child's safety (eg. it is reasonable to assume they have been abducted by a stranger). The decision whether to issue an alert is usually taken by a high-ranking officer, who then provides the information to news stations etc..

In the USA, the system is nationwide, which makes it easier to find criminals who have crossed borders.

So would it work internationally? For example, if a child goes missing in a certain city in a certain country, and the criteria for an Amber Alert (or Child Rescue Alert) is met, thus an alert is issued in that country, the alert is then broadcast in other countries. Perhaps only if it is thought that the criminal will try to leave the country.

Could it work? What problems are there, and how could they be overcome? Or is it a daft idea?

I heard they have a news ticker you can put on your website if you have a website.

That's very differnt though, since you would have to seek out those websites, wheras when you switch the T.V. on, if this International Alert existed, and there was an Alert in progress, you would see it immediately.
