I'm gonna go with FSU this year- the D looks to come back much stronger than last year, and their chief season rivals, Florida and Miami, both look to have lesser squads. The Noles should go undefeated in ACC play.

Watch out for Michigan State. They return most of the pieces of one of the best offenses in the nation, and their defense is much improved.

Plus, the coach has to win this year, or else he's out.

Finally a thread about REAL football.

I really haven't looked at much yet this year, I mainly follow the NFL.

However, I will predict Southern Miss will dominate the Conference USA this year.:)

Heres my Top 5 Teams along with a comment about each

1. Oklahoma Adrian Peterson is healthy, Rhett Bomar is experienced and the D returns 9 starters. The Sooners must survive road trip to Oregon. Once again the OU Texas game will decided the winner of the Big 12 South.

2. Notre Dame In Weis's second year look for big things at Notre Dame. Brady Quinn and Jeff Smardjia return. However a tough schedule may keep them out of a national championship game.

3. Auburn Wow how long ago was it that Kenny Irons played backup running back at South Carolina to the now Dallas Cowboy Demetrius Summers. Irons is a back up no more and a frontrunner for the Heisman. If Auburn can survive tought SEC games and Miami (FL) they have a shot at the title.

4. Southern Cal For a mere mortal team this would be a rebuilding year after losing Reggie Bush and Matt Leinhart. But the Trojans will rise from the ashes and win the Pac 10 outright.

5. Texas The defending national champion orangebloods will have their Big 12 and national championship hopes in one game vs Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl. Oklahoma has won 5 out of 6 and have an experienced quarterback unlike Texas.

Gotta give my loyalty to my University. I'm calling for Ohio State to win the National Championship. Now that we've finally got an entrenched QB in the form of Troy Smith (instead of fiddling around with Zwick, who lost us at least one game in the last season) who is not only getting good at passing, he's also quite mobile. Besides Smith, we also still have Ginn and Pittman, who improved dramatically from the beginning of last year. We also picked up Chris Wells.

Our linebacker corps may be somewhat new, but they aren't totally inexperienced. Beyond just that, this is a Jim Tressel defense, this is where Tressel is best, and if he can't field a workable defense with what he has, then no one can.

I'm calling for Texas to show up in the top five as well. Even though they will lose early to OSU, they'll sweep all of their other games, and will doubtlessly be a factor in the National Championship game. They'd be much better off if they had a QB who had even ever started in a college game, but that problem will be solved reasonably rapidly. I hold no ill will towards Texas, and consider them a solid pick.

West Virginia is interesting, but I'm uncertain about ranking them super high, just on the basis of my inborn Ohioan prejudices towards the mountain state.

Notre Dame is overrated. I will continue to maintain this position until I see evidence otherwise. I wish the sports media would hop off of Charlie Weis' dick and start giving the teams that ND is playing a bit of credit. So, do you think I'm hostile on this one?

LSU is a solid choice, not really all that much to say on this front beyond that.

Michigan. I fucking hate Michigan. Ann Arbor is a whore!

Oklahoma Sooners. Another solid choice, no glaring flaws, although I'd be concerned about the inexperience of their offensive line.
