I was watching Star Trek Deep Space Nine (I don't usually watch it but they bumped back one episode of the Next Generation and replaced it with DS9) and Odo became a solid.
Does anyone know how/why this is the case?

I believe it was the Founders. Partially for his loyalty the the Federation/Bajorans, and partially to make him realize what he was turning his back on.

He was poisoned by his own people to force him to return and be judged.
His punishment was to live as a solid....
and people new this off by heart??? Ah well, ihave the first season of the fresh prince of bel-air to enjoy

He was infected by section 31, who manipulated him into infecting the Great Link, in an attempt to wipe out the leadership of the Dominion and leave them headless.

Well, if it was the next generation I could ramble on about it, I've had competitions with friends of "continue the next generation plotline"

So he goes back to normal eventually? That's good.
