So, who wins? I think Argentina will win, and I'm guessing 3-1. Of course, that's my one guess that hasn't been right yet, but, you know.

I think we'll beat the Oranjefolk pretty badly

but if that means getting cards and some palyers missing the next game, then I'd rather we lose and not get the cards

Yes we are :D

However, we'd rather don't injure our players or getting them cards, so we play it cool as well :)

when they go to the 1/8th finals all players lose their cards.

Yeah well - Portugal or Mexico - do they care? - not really - hence 0 - 0

Only single yellow ones. Red ones or the 2nd yellow will still have effect

Considering the Dutch do not have to win to get to the next round they will probably indeed not be motivated to put up a fight. Lazy buggers ;)

I'd rather play Mexico than Portugal. Portugal was 2nd in the EC 2 years ago and beat us in the semi-finals back then. Overall I think Portugal is the stronger one of the two.

I agree that Portugal is the stronger of the two, but neither are teams to 'be avoided' like Brazil or the hosts (just because they are the hosts and Brazil, not because of their performances.)
The Blaatschapen

Yup, indeed. Also I count Argentina as a team to be avoided. And maybe Spain as well (even though they're normally weak in tournaments), but this time just *wow*.

Also a nice question: Who will Princess Maxima support? She's originally Argentinian :D

Argentina
Holland
England
Germany
Portugal

if I understant the FIFA system correctly.

BTW Go Brazil.. Penta!! (actually penta already)

I dunno if Argentina will win. At least according the FIFA historical match up.

Both teams have played 5 total matches against each other.
The Netherlands have won 3
Argentina has won 1
They have pulled a draw once.

NET: 9 goals
ARG:5 goals

So this match historically favors the Oranjefolk, but in this particular match, Argentina is making a lot more close shots than the Netherlands.

That's impossible. Brazil has to play either Argentina or the Netherlands in the semi-finals (if they all make it that far).

Well Argentina and the Netherlands can only see each other again in the finals, because they're in the same poule. So if they're all in the semi-finals one has to play against Brazil.

That would be a wonderfully satirical result.

"England draws with Ghana, but Ghana loses to England, 2-0."

I'm now tempted to concoct alternate rules that would allow that to happen.

"England draws with Ghana, but Ghana loses to England, 2-0."

I'm now tempted to concoct alternate rules that would allow that to happen.

All it would require is some kind of handicapping system wherin each team is handicapped independently.

Say
England Handicap -2
Ghana Handicap 0

So England 2 : 0 Ghana after handicap adjustment

For England - England 2 - 2 : 0 Ghana = England 0 : 0 Ghana - a draw
For Ghana - England 2 : 0 + 0 Ghana = England 2 : 0 Ghana - England win

If you switch "Ghana" and "England" here, that would indeed be a most fabulous idea. :p

In other news, I'm one of only 3 people here correctly predicting a draw. Yay me! (Let's just conveniently forget that I predicted four goals too many...)

Yeah, but war and politics make that sort of thing really easy. No rules, especially in civil wars. All's fair, and whatnot.

I can switch people around from the bench. But I don't have any transfers left.
The site seems to work fine right now though.
