I have given it a shot before but the only thing I ever got was a water moccassin and a glove with two holes in it. My days of noodling are over, fishing with a rod& reel is safer. And easier...

Our park district in Illinois used to fill the public swimming pool with goldfish for the kids on the last day of the season.. so we all got to dive in and chase a few down to take home. Same concept on a small scale, I guess. I remember it being a lot of fun.

Never noodled but took a survival course years *cough* many years *cough* ago and learned how to catch fish in rivers by hand in kind of a similar manner. Wade into the river and work upstream in ultra slow motion to the outside of a bend with under cut banks or semi submerged logs. It takes forever but you can sloooowly, ever sooooo sloooowly move your hand under a fish until you touch it pauussse and FLIP it out onto the bank. I know what you are thinking. I thought it was impossible too until I saw it then did it.
