Can I be George Bush in Iraq? No? Oh hell.

I'll be a leopard, then.

They're the best-looking, sleekest big cats (well, not really in the pic you picked, but still). And they lounge around in trees most of the time, which sounds like an awesome way to pass the time.

Except I wouldn't want to eat any people. Or animals, really. I'd just have to be a vegetarian leopard. *nod*

I think tigers hold the record for man-eating. IIRC, the man-eater of Kumaon (anybody read Jim Corbett here?) killed about 350 people.

Too bad that none of the animals you've listed really eat humans, save maybe the tiger. But tigers only eat people because the Vietnamese are short!

I think I'll go with the liger. They're freakin' huge, freakin' awesome, and they get all the transvestites, too.

Tigers are around 9 ft long and 400 lbs in that area of the world. Eating a man is no problem for them. Even less so in Siberia, where they reach 13 ft and 850 lbs. Keep in mind, tigers, like most felines, hunt for prey far larger than themselves (the 200 lbs Javan tiger could kill bulls ten times its size).

And they get all the transvestites. Napoleon Dynamite ruined the liger for everybody. Hey, at least we still have the maltese tiger. Or rather, we probably don't due to humans kicking too much ass in the wilderness. Still, the concept of a maltese tiger is damn cool.

Well, seeing as all of the sightings of the such tigers have been in the mountainous regions of China and Korea, where people hate America and its capitalist soul-stealing genetic research, we can't be certain. However, there was a Bengal tiger cub born in some zoo which possessed a bluish tinge to its fur. Its mother killed it shortly after birth, unfortunately. Sounds like recessive genes to me.

It would seem so. It's odd. Too bad it doesn't occur more frequently. I suppose the mother killed it because of its odd colour? I have heard of tiger mothers practising infanticide, but it is by no means common.

Pythons and anacondae both, yes. They devour crocodiles, and even big cats on occassion. So humans are not much of a meal. I don't know why I added the venomous snakes. -_-

There are giant maneating catfish, too. I read about it in a tropical aquarium-keeper's book. The author went on about it, he said, "I'm only including this for completeness's sake. Don't get one, even a small one, because they get big. And they're aggressive. You fall in the water with a big one, say goodnight." According to him, they can get up to 12' long.

It should go noted that although they don't eat them, hippos kill more people in Africa than lions and crocs together. Pigs can and will kill and eat a human, too.

Ive read an account of a hunter in africa who shot an old leopard that had started hunting humans.(presumably because the leopard had grown too old to humt faster safer game) When he found and killed the cat it had dragged a (dead) man up a tree backwards by his skull to eat him.

Well, you could sign up here. I mean, I really don't have a comprehensive list or anything. There's only two or three other people coming along so far, but the more the merrier. After all, somebody has to keep the breadsticks coming while the others sleep, or else there's a greater chance of getting kicked out.

And here's a picture of that baby [pseudo-]melanistic tiger. It was preserved in a jar, so yeah: http://www.messybeast.com/genetics/blktigercub.jpg

Brown Bears - roughly 2 fatal attacks a year in North America, some of which are eaten
Crocodile - Yes indeed they eat lots of people - the Battle of Ramree Island (http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/content_pages/record.asp?recordid=54116) is the largest single incident
Great White Shark - absolutely

Well, wolves or wolfpacks only hunted humans at the end of a long and harsh winter when game became scarce.
Wolves have a very developed survival instinct, and they learned early that humans are prey to be avoided unless it's an emergency.

Single wolves might attack humans because they are mad or starving as well.

I'd include rat or perhaps rats in that list too though.
Rats doesn't eat humans very often as such, but they are capable of swarming over a human and kill him. And then, of course they wouldn't let all that meat go to waste.

Plus, they're agile, smart and can chew through most things.
They're a bit like the special ops troops. Infiltrate, strike and then fade away without being seen. ;)

Btw, was it only man eaters on the list, or man killers (since the venomous snakes suggested before aren't man eaters, but man killers. Python and Anaconda are occasional man eaters though)?

If it's killers, I think the insects win hands down.
Probably the malaria mosquito.

actually, none of those are MANEATERS. attacks are usually in defense of territory/young, Diseased animals, or by mistakes. Humans, generally don't taste good to animals.

the only possible exception to the list would be the Komodo Dragon. Those guys would eat anything, even if it was rotted and moldy, it would still be food.
