this is the third thread about my computer in three weeks!
i really do ahte microsoft.
So heres my problem:
A few months ago I put in a CD and it didnt register it. So I looked around and the CD drive wasn't on the Device Manager or My Computer. So i took it in for repair. They replaced the CD drive, and it still dosent even show up. Ive pressed the scan for new hardware button and the like, but to no avail.
So can anyone tell me what do please?

I'm not great with computers but I could suggest a few things that probably won't work.
1. Check if it needs a driver.
2. If it needs a driver, check if you have the driver.
3. If it needs a driver and you don't have it, download the driver.
4. Check all the connections.
5. Ask on NS again but using bright and colourful letters.

With most PC software and hardware problems, it is usually fixed by turning it off and then turning it back on. Try disconnecting the CD drive, rebooting, and reconnecting it.

Does your BIOS recognise your cddrive (is a cddrive mentioned when you boot up the pc) ?

My roommate had an issue with the CD drive in his old Compaq, and it turns out that the problem was a bad data cable. Open your computer and check both the power and data cables, to make sure they aren't damaged and to make sure they're seated properly.

Take it back to the shop where you paid for it to be repaired and tell them to fix it. Your old CD burner was probably fine. They need to fix it for free and then go to the manager and tell him or her that you want the money refunded for the difference because they didn't even bother to check whether or not what they did was the right thing.
