Have you been to "Cheers" and gotten drunk yet?

Eaten some Clam Chowder?

If 'yes', then it's time to leave the city :p

You're actually pretty close to the Museum of Science: it's air conditioned, large, very modern (there are some great exhibits), a planetarium and a pretty good Imax theatre.

Take a right onto Merrimac, then another one onto Staniford. Next, a left onto Martha. It's right around there - if you see a T stop called 'Science Park,' you know you're on the right path.

The New England Aquarium and the rest of the waterfront is also a little further, but relatively close.

Not a damned frigging thing. Go to a different part of town.

You think the streets there are bad? Try Charlotte. It's like a drunk monkey set up the grid. A road will change names five times in two miles.

if I had known you were up there today, I could have dragged you out. However, I'm back in CT now, so you shall have to suffer.

I personally did the MFA and got sushi at the place by Symphony.

and there's a street set up? since when?

Yes yes you should have been here to show me what there is to do. Damn you.

Well today we walked up to the Fen..fenn.... the F. market and what not.. just looked around, saw many many bull statues, ate at.. Ames something.. and came back. It's too damn hot out.

Boston should copy Philly and make it easy to not get lost. *nods*

But isn't that part of the plan to drive the Yankees nuts? (If you mean Charlotte (NC) which I have been to)

haha...well, I was there...just...not near you. And its Faneuil hall...aka Quincy Market.

All of boston is grey/tan, but the science museum is this one (http://world-shots.com/i/uploaded/1006121423.jpg)

I'd suggest going to Boston Commons and relaxing by the river. That's where I would be atleast...

you could take a duck tour if you want...sign up is at the Prudential center. Just please don't quack at people. That is so annoying.

Ah, you poor bastard. :p

The museums are the buildings that say "museum" on them. Go into any such building. They all have air conditioning.

Many buildings in Boston have air conditioning, in fact. You should go into some of them. Go into the restaurants we told you about in your pre-trip thread. Go into the public library. It is cool in there, and I am told that, somewhere on the third floor, I think, there is a statue in honor of executed anarchists Sacco and Vanzetti. That might be an urban legend, but the air conditioning is real -- provided it's working, of course. If you want real air conditioning, go to Copley Place. That's a shopping mall with two luxury hotels attached and other mod cons, including bars, where the drinks come with ice.

If you want to brave the heat, I recommend visiting Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. Absolutely everybody who was anybody in Boston is buried there. It really is just lovely. The heat will probably kill you, but you'll already be at the cemetery, so it's all good.

Enjoy your visit. :D

Actually there are two "Cheers" - the one the show was actually based on is this place called the Bull and Finch, it's near the Common and the State House, and the inside looks nothing like the bar from the show. The other place is called Cheers, its modeled exactly like the bar from the show, and its located at Quincy Market.

Other things to do in Boston: go to the Aquarium and watch the penguins, spend some money at Newbury Street or Copley Square, walk around the Common and the Public Gardens, take the Red Line over and check out Harvard Square, go to the North End in the morning and just smell all the bakeries, take a Sam Adams Brewery tour...

actually, now that I think about it, if it is a clear day, go up to the observation deck of the Pru. Great view, AC, not expensive. The Hancock towers observation deck is still closed, I think.
