I don't care what the government does, but if I'm in a road accident I want to hear sirens not wind chimes

That reminds me.
The ice cream truck around where I live is fucking crazy. I don't remember what tunes it plays when driving around, but some arn't appropriate for an ice cream truck. I'm waiting for it to pick up "Ride of the Valkyries."

Complementary medicine is alternative medicine (acupuncture, homeopathy, osteopathy, reflexology, etc) used in conjunction with conventional treatment (ie. acupuncture may be used alongside chemotherapy to treat a cancer patient).

My belief is that the government should not invest in complementary medicine. It may be useful as pain relief, but there is not one unbiased scientifically significant study that shows that patients treated solely with alternative medicine or with complementary medicine have a higher chance of recovering from illness, or of recovering faster.

I agree. Why waste money on crazy, unscientific remedies when that money could have a greater public health benefit if it's used for programs to keep people from overeating and to promote exercise instead?

Because governments don't understand the concept of reducing the causes of problems, and just wait until there's a problem then introduce ridiculously expensive and bureaucratic ways of dealing with it. At least dictatorships get things done.
