I want to find a free online rpg. Here are my conditions:
-mmos are fine.
-MUST BE FREE.
-I better not have to save anything on my computer.
-Must be pretty easy to use.
-FF-like rpg's, with the characters and the worlds and such.
-Not Nationstates(duh), Runescape, or adventurequest. I already use those.
-Create-a-character is a big plus.
-BETTER BE FREE.
-medieval style is okay. So is anime style.
-Must be so easy, my dog could use it.
-Nothing kiddy.
-"mature" content, such as gore and boobies, should be kept to a minimum.
-mature content, such as a complex and interesting story about growth and whatnot is a big plus.
-IT BETTER BE FREE.

Can you help me find one? Google is an ass to use for such uses, as is Ask Jeeves.

Well, the only one which comes to mind is Guild Wars, which has an initial purchase cost, but no monthly charges. Excellent game too.

If it has a cost to use, even if it costs money just once, it's not free.

Go MUDding? I'd suggest one, but my favorite isn't easy to pick up instantly.

Shadowbane is free right now. It's a fun MMORPG with an expansive character-specialization system and hardcore PVP.

Neverwinter Nights is a good one... You've gotta buy the computer game, but the online playing is free and it absolutely rocks. If you should happen to get it, contact me and I'll show you a good server.

Just mud.Exactly.

Much like the pictures are better on radio, pick the right kind of Mud (there are ones that are very RP, others that are very numberchasey, and all kinds inbetween...) and I'm sure you could have fun.

As for software, most will handle telnet (should be available on most computers) if you don't want to install software, or small-footprint clients, or even no-footprint ones (my favourite Mud is Discworld (discworld.atuin.net) which has a Java client that works sufficiently well to get started with, or even for the long-term).
