Are you one of those highly sought after celebrity Nation States players?

Yes, at least five people from my school remember me as the clumsy, stubborn Granny in R&H Cinderella, and a good two others are excited to see me as Mrs. Pearce in next year's My Fair Lady.

Ok how does the make you qualified?

How does that make me qualified for what?
Skibereen
16-06-2006, 00:12
SHe's more qualified then I am...I am a truck driver.

And being able to sing isnt much credibility in offering lessons...being educated on what to listen for in control, breathing, and anonciation(sp?) are what is important and that requires some technical training which a classically trained singer would have. Even a bad singer....

Not that you are a bad singer TC just making a point.

To judge single style, range and overall quality of voice.....

Hey, I could judge overall quality of voice, it's not too difficult. Understanding it, eh, that's beyond me.

To judge single style, range and overall quality of voice.....

Well, when I apply for a job as the Music Director for a Broadway musical, I'll keep that in mind. Often, in the world of musical theatre, cast members with the maximum amount of singing experience give advice to less experienced singers. You don't need major qualifications for that. Besides, I never said I was judging, did I?

Six years! How can you not perform in public after that many lessons? Doesn't your teacher ask you to?

I am married to a mezzo-soprano with about a dozen or so Operas and about 6 concerts under her belt. ;)

Even a trainer can be trained badly.

My wife has a friend that went through several coaches who saw a big black man and said you are a Bass. He was starting to destroy his voice until somebody told him to see my wifes coach. He went from being a Bass to a Heldentenor. He is doing rather well right now.

ANNOUNCEMENT: I'm not trying to formally train anyone! I just wanted a fun thread where people who aren't as good at singing as I am could joke about their abilities, while I pretend to be musically omniscient. How could this possibly offend so many people?

Offended? Who me?

The response wasn't directed at you.

Asking why so many would be offended? This is the general. Haven't you learned that by now? :p

Ahhh. I saw Classical trained and then musicals. Just a curiosity question mind you.

However, "I'll try to be kind." implied you were judging.

I thought it implied "I'll try not to laugh too hard".

I meant, I'll try to be kind about my advice. I wasn't going to mark anyone out of ten, or anything.

I have performed in public many times, but I dont like it very much as I am quite shy-especially when it comes to singing, you can be trained all you like but it doesnt give you confidence when your in front lots of people.

That's true. The only thing that gives you confidence to perform in front of people is....performing in front of people! The more you do it, the more comfortable you feel.
