My cafeteria makes amazing caramel-chip cookies... White chocolate macadamia nut cookies à la Subway are also tasty.

Still, when I am baking on my own I prefer peanut-butter cookies, made with chunky peanut-butter.

ROFL

well what's your favorite dough?

I suppose "sugar" would be closest to being the basic cookie dough... probably a base for most doughs (except oatmeal and molasses, of course).

crap, I just remembered:

the best cookie I ever consumed was a peanutbutter/oatmeal/chocolate chip/walnut cookie... damn that thing was good.

Actually I think it was some friend's mom who made them, and I prolly ate several -- guest or not.

er... well, there's this one really good tea biscuit... it's a lot like a ginger cookie, tho (without the ginger), so I guess gingerbread & gingersnaps.
And chocolate chip, both types, without nuts.
And shortbread.

But I'll put my actual vote under the gingerbread heading.

My faves are ANZAC biscuits - made from rolled oats, golden syrup & butter. I love them. If you buy them from the shops, they're called Butternut Snaps. They're not quite the same, nor are they as delicious, but they're still pretty good.

*racks brain for any England-English words. fails* Er... something sorta weird. Let's see... well, it's like a category, I think, that includes very specific types of cookies, and then... begins to enter the more "not sugary" realm. Sorry, I can't be very useful. Stupid American-English to England-English problems... gr....

Chocolate chip shortbread.

Actually, as far as I know, they don't exist, but they would undoubtedly be the cookie designed purely to kick the rear ends (the flat part) of all other cookies with sheer kookiness and tasty awesomeness.

OMG - a google search tells me that they do exist.

What North Americans call buscuits are tea buiscuits- Very thick pastry with little or no flavouring. Like a cinnamon bun without the cinnamon. As their name indicates, they go well with tea, or any other drink. Butter or cream cheese are also important additions.

I don't call them either 'buscuits' or 'buiscuits'. I call them 'biscuits'. And they come in boxes marked, 'Peek Freen', and they have the Royal Warrant on them. And I'm North American.

They're actually made in a method different from conventional pastry, although both recipes would involve cutting in the fat to achieve a flaky texture.
