I am an old PPC instructor / competeitor from back in the day when the carry gun for law enforcement was usually a good old S&W .38 / .357 mag .
I picked up my Highway patrol model today after having it repaired..it only took me 20 years to get around to it but ...what the hey..I have been in Glock and colt and Ruger semi auto heaven now for years .
No doubt about it 6 rounds and a speedloader just wont cut it out on the street anymore..well IT CAN ..buy why would you want to ?
But for pure double action fun and games and fun with a different skillset it ranks high .
Firing single action at 25 yards ( .38 special ) is good for 2 to 3 " groups on target..it comes with combat sights..by on target I mean aim at the orange ball and group on the orange ball .
Double action ..although NOT smooth AT all..is still good for six in the X if you want it .
I'm thinking of sinking another 125.00 into it for an action job.
I am also no longer thinking of selling it.
It may be nostalgia or it could be I just had that much fun .
It's nostalgia for me. Too simple and easy these days with the semi autos.

Until I recieve my CCW permit, I won't be a fan of any pistols (because I know I can't buy one). :(

I love revolvers, even though I'm British and thus can't own one. The most reliable handguns around IMHO, and the Webley .45 is the ultimate handgun.
Out of curiosity, given that you can own Browning M2 .50s in the USA (with the right licence obviously), what licence(s) would you need to have a Webley .45?

I had a S&W highway patrolman and traded it for a funky old chinese SKS because I couldnt hit with it. I dont even know why. Im a good shot with SA revolvers and with SA and DA/SA autos. But even shooting the Highway Patrolman S&W as a single action I couldnt hit squat with it and others could.
I probably should have at least tried pachmyer grips and all else with it but it was just such an embarassment to me I never grew fond of it, only frustrated.
What I have and hit with now are a Star PD a Colt officers model in 38 super and a Navy Arms black powder revolver

You would need to be 18 years old

In order to own a handgun you only need to be 18. In order to buy one you need to be 21.
To buy an M2 browning .50...
Full auto-Get the sherrif to sign off on your form3 application, mail it off
Semi auto-buy it and take it home the same day
I'd love to get a 4 or 5" .357/.38. Yesteryear's police weapons.

None ...sadly I have owned a webley ..that came with my Enfield rifle ..303..along with the kit and a sword...but my Dad sold the webley along with the side holster and the sword..I still use the enfield as a hunting rifle ..in fact I have a nice six pointer from last year .
But the Colt is a better balanced pistol IMO ..I like the break open ..easy to reload and can understand how a calvary officer would LOVE this pistol..compared to a Colt..if under pressure...but as a pure shooting pistol ..the Colt wins .
