Thats to be expected from sadly predictable whiners. They hate Bush because he does what he does and does'nt give a flying fuck what they think.
No matter-it cant take away from the greatness of this new sanctuary.

Geez, even when he does something great, they still complain. Just goes to prove they have a predetermined opinion that they will stick to regardless of any evidence to the contrary that may be presented to them.

Yes this is a huge step in the right direction, but sadly it is election issue politics. Really this is so the republicans can say 'lookie what we did, keep us in office!'
So really is is an awesome thing yes, but Bush is still an idiot and it's election politics.

Exactly. It's like if I pet a cat on the way to killing a bunch of school children will people please talk about when I pet the cat instead of all the dead kids?

It's a tropical preserve in Hawaii.. I don't think there can be a comparison.
Anyhow, I think it's good to see an addition to our national parks. Bush has had a number of recent, mostly unreported victories (judicial appointments, etc.), that have gone under the radar. Although I wouldn't call the creation of the park a victory or loss, rather than simply the right thing to do.. more reason to visit Hawaii if portions are open to the public.

Probably nothing there for his supporters to profit off so yes he signed it.
Now would he have signed it if there was a hint of oil being around?
I really doubt it.

The only time that twit cares what the American people thinks is when he needs a few more votes. The rest of the time he says stuff like "I'm the president, I don't have to explain things, people have to explain to me." Sort of paraphrasing a bit.

Wow, I'm impressed. This is probably the third kudos I've given to the Bush administration. Even if it was so that Republicans can point to something good they did for the environment. It's a rare move for Republicans to do something good for the environment so things like this should be loudly applauded in hopes that it will encourage them to follow such paths in the future.

Of course they did. It's election time!
The paper had a big article who many Republican's are downplaying their party during their campaigns.
Now if there were developers after the area and he did it then I would really be impressed and would send a thank you.
Still it's not a done deal until they define what will happen with fishing and coral harvesting.
It's nice to set it aside but it doesn't mean much if you continue to harvest it.....

I agree that they did it for brownie points, but what I am saying is that if we all cheer when they do something pro-environment, they will do consider doing more of the things that makes them popular to keep the power. If we can't get some honest politicians in office, at least we can try to coerce our dirty dealing leaders to throw us some bones.

Agreed. Bush has doen plenty of things that I'm not too happy with, but unlike most people here I'm perfectly willing to acknowledge when he does something right. I think what bothers me the most are the ones who say, oh, I don't know

Intention is irrelevent. What matters is action. WHY he did it doesn't matter, the fact is he did it, and no one can find a reason to say it's bad that he did it! So why are you all attacking this?

But it's not irrelevant. If it was done in order to gain support from the public so he can go do something dastardly, well, I'd rather have the land not set aside.
Yes. It's a great environmental decision. But if he uses (and I don't put it past him that there's an intended "bribe") it to garner support for invading Iran, well, it's not worth it.
Edit: I used something ridiculous and over the top to make a point. A nature preserve might not be worth some things we could be expected to sacrifice. That's the jist.

Again. Until they declare what will happen with fishing and coral harvesting, it will only look good on paper......

I hardly think his low improvement rating is due to some fish in Hawaii. Thankfully, people have more practical concerns.
