Clearly these people have homophobiaitis, caused by exceptional insecurity over one's own sexuality.

Possibly they need some treatments like being given a massage by both a man and a woman, and they can rate them out of ten to get a genuine idea of their true leaning.

That or we could go for the 1850s way - brick them up in the cellar and advise their kin to forget about them.

Look, just because the voltage dependence of activation for my channels is slightly shifted doesn't mean you get to pick on me. Not all of us can become maximally permiable to current flow every 2 miliseconds. So I inactivate from time to time. I'm not a machine, dammit!

I always knew that's what this was really about for you. You're looking for some younger, more conductive membrane so you can run off and make a bunch of cute little low-resistance vesicles together. Why don't you just admit that it's because I'm fat?!

It's not so much that you're fat, it's that you have layer upon layer of concentric lipid-bilayer deposits wound around your projections the removal of which you see as a fate worse than apoptosis.

Nothing a little nitric oxide (not nitrous oxide) might help.

I much prefer the indirectness of a potent and selective inhibitor of cyclic guanosine monophosphate specific type 5 phosphodiesterase.

I'll have you know that there are plenty of folks out there who like a little insulation on an axon. Not everybody is attracted to little anorexic processes with all their membrane hanging out for the world to see. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised, considering the unmyelinated hussies you hung around with before we met.

Unmyelinated is just an ugly word bitter glial-dependants such as yourself use for those whose potentials last longer and are slower to climax.

It's posts like this that make me love Fass -- in a purely platonic way, of course. :p

As if I would ever be jealous of some puny little fibers that can hardly maintain an impulse for a dozen microns! Maybe some easily-impressed immarture membranes can be driven to threshold by your weak EPSPs, but it takes a lot more to induce conformational changes in my voltage-gated channel proteins.

Oh, and you know that time I claimed to be repetatively firing? I was faking it.

Of course you were faking it, as you fake your entire existence as an independent ectodermal descendant. Not even barely had we started burrowing our way to create the neural fold and crest, when you went off cavorting with the paraxial mesoderm, you perverted somite lover!

Oh, and what was I supposed to do? Wait around until you finished differentiating, completed the pruning of your dendritic arborization, and formed your mature synaptic connection pattern? I had impulses of my own to transmit, and I wasn't about to waste my life waiting for you to get your big lazy soma off the extracellular matrix.

Peace be upon them, they were at least saved the shame of your lineage-treachery.

You admit your wretched addiction to foreign and unworthy growth factors, allowing them to soil your superior plasma membrane with their sarcolemmic detritus. Duped so far were you that you sunk yourself to being only a step above the common myotome, leaving behind our beloved pia and arachoidea maters and instead mimicking their fascia through your own endo-, peri- and epineurium hoi polloi connective tissue! Why don't you just go get yourself a sarcomere while you're at it?

Forgive me for wanting a little tensile strength for my output process.

And who are you to talk about dependence, anyhow? You need astrocytic regulation of pH and ion concentration as much as I do, so don't go walking around like your vesicle fusion never leads to excessive transmitter in the cleft.

It is clear that your peripheral exile leaves your information retention capacity naught (those cerebellar purkinje fibres taking pity on you through their correction of you notwithstanding) seeing as I was originally extolling the virtues of the noble astrocyte, which has in its morality forsaken you.

I'm as able to have my firing pattern regulated by long term potentiation as you are, thank you very much, so there's no need to talk down to me. My point is, if you are going to go around knocking my affiliation with Schwann cells, or my fondness for the nodal regions of exposed membrane with high densities of ion channels that allow for greatly increased action potential velocity, then you'd better be willing to take a good hard look at your own addiction to glial modulation.
