True. But T&T kept a clean sheet against Sweden (though I heard that Sweden's finishing was awful on the day). It's possible we might win 2-1 having put in a brilliant performance. Though if I'm honest I don't see T&T scoring, except from a set piece or penalty.

Sweeden are a seasoned WC team. Trindiad are newcommers. Trends would suggest to me that it is more likly the Sweedes having a bad day that the Trindidaians (what is the belonging adjective for Trinidad? Trinidadite? Trinidadian? Trindididi?) having a good day

Trinidad Tobago is a former British colony which got lots of immigration from India and Africa, as well as England itself. It's composed of two islands, one of which has its name ommited in nearly all spoken references to Trinidad. (See?) :p

And to top it all, the score was exactly as I'd predicted. You'd almost think they did it on purpose.

Don't discount how T'n'T played. There was some terrific old-skool man marking going on that completely closed us down in their penalty area.

Naaa I disagree, I think all went according to Svens plan, after all it was only our second game, we can get pretty later on, at this stage of the gaem the win is what matters.

AS T&T set their stall out for a nil nil result, with 11 men behind the ball for most of the game, it would have been difficult for any side to score at will. After we scored, they had to open out the game, and we took advantage of the spavce that would normally have existed and scored again. If we could have scored early on, it would have been a rout, but as they held out for 82 minutes, we didn't have time for more than one extra goal.

The team is still trying to work out how to play together, We suffer from the lack of the holding midfielder (Carrick) to give confidence to the other three. This results in three of the four midfielders playing too defensively (The exception being Cole)

I still say Peter Crouch is shite. I wanted him off at half-time. man can't shoot to save his wife.

Of course Cole is the exception. In my not-so-humble opinion, he's been the best middie in the World Cup after Rosicky (sp?). He just hasn't had his team working with him.

Like one of the above posters said don't forget how the other team played, they done well. If you look at the game statisticly you'll see that we was always going to win it, at some point. But I think we played very well, and I think the other team played very well to keep us out for so long.

Lets not forget that in every game there are two teams, and so two perfomances that we have to look at.

England played very well considering how rediculously defensively Trindiad were playing. When you consider the fact that in the rest of the World Cup teams dont do that. They dont put 11 men in their own half and make it imposible to score at the expense of their own scoring chances. While Trindidad did have some shots and chances, England made far more and only found it hard because of the rediculously defensive play. In real life the rest of the world cup isnt like that. Which is why Trindidad will not get far.

be fair, TnT didn't just sit back and punt like England do when they go defensive, they did at least make some dangerous play.

Hell yeah, some of those counter attacks were scary.

Also, Terry is an absolute god, that was a bloody scary moment (you know the one of which I speak)

Wow, TV here just showed some footage (of an angle they hadn't had before) of Crouch's goal - and turns out he completely grabbed his opponent's hair while jumping up for the header.

And we're talking full-hand grabbing of the dreads and whipping the guy's head around. Looking *really* bad.

Strangely enough, the other guy (sorry, can't remember the name) didn't even protest - guess he had no idea what hit him, seeing how Crouch's knees were on one level with his face at the time, so it couldn't have been surprising to randomly have your head whipped around.

Anyway, lucky for England that the situation was so crowded that the referee (or anybody, really) didn't see it, or that goal would surely have been moot.

(Even though the commentators said Crouch may not even have really noticed what he was doing, although I'm not all so sure about that - I mean, you'd think you'd notice if you suddenly grabbed on to a hand full of long hair).

The commentator here in Oz said it best I think: "The result is a little bit flattering to England really, we didn't see particularly impressive football by them today. There is no denying the talent in this side, but perhaps their teamwork still has room to improve."

But in the WC.. protesting the horrible calls never gets the calls reverted.. all it can do is get you a yellow card.
