I don't like the new Lexus IS350, so I would choose the Lancer Evolution VIII MR.

Lancer for me.

And anyone who buys Lexus needs to spend a good few minutes in a gas chamber. Seriously. F*cking suburbanite shitboxes, only soccermums and rich brats drive them.

In terms of ability, and how good it is at getting you quickly from A to B in the hands of even an average driver, the Lexus doesn't even deserve to be on the poll with the other two.

For the price range, there are simply no other cars that will do the job better than a WRX or an Evo.

Let me guess...Mercedes M-Class?

I'm not having a go at you, I just don't understand how anyone can say that Evos or Rexes suck.

Well if you don't like import sedans then too bad.
I agree that the Lancer is superior, I simply hate the styling of the new Lexus.

I notice that there's no option for "And God smote the drivers verily with a thunderbolt before the race was finished. And yea the Skyline landed from the Heavens and crossed the finish line."

No, two of them are two of the best fast cross-country cars you can buy at any money.

The other is a tool for getting more money out of twats.

Right, the Skyline did come down from the Heavens. But it's not in the same price range. If wanted to import a Skyline into America it would cost around $90,000.
You can buy a BMW M5 with that...

LOL, you said nothing about price range. If FORCED to pick, I'd say the WRX. But by the time I got done futzing around with it, I'd have probably dropped the 90 large that I would have spent on the Skyline to begin with. :-)

Understandable, I'm a bit of a futzer myself.
I put so much crap into my '93 Corolla its getting a bit untastefull.

And get a better car to boot. Skylines, for the price, are one of the most overrated cars built. So why the Lexus? lets face it, it has little in common with the WRX and the Evo. They are both based on top of the line racing vehicles. AWD, 270-300 horse street-legal rally cars. The Lexus is just a sports sedan with a soft suspension and a moderate amount of horsies under the hood.

actuly i think that mercedes suck too
iam more a fan of fast cars like the bugatii and such. but what i really love is old cars from the 20's 30's and 40's the huge cars that had strait 12's in them.
but if i had to pick a car it would eather be the volvo s60r or the 1996 dodge viper. the thing i dont like about the wrx is the transmition

i know, we all have our favorits.

I was the one who picked the WRX. I know it's not quite as fast off the line as the Evolution because it's heavier, however the type of race was not defined. If it is any race involving curves, the STi will have a slight advantage in its handling capabilities compared to the Evo.

I drove an '05 Evo and an '05 STi, and the Evo's handling feels... uncertain. An STi feels more crisp in the wheel. I haven't had the opportunity to test the '06 versions so don't take that as gospel regarding '06. I'm sure both companies have made improvements.

Have fun with the '96 viper, with its massive 8.3Litre V10 engine, you'll be paying $75 to drive to work.

Bugatti - highly commendable, but a bit unrealistic. I met a guy that owns a McLarren F1, couldn't get his hands on the Veyron...

Okay, yeah, but later in that video it gets schooled on 1.7 miles by a fiat compact...

And did he really say 4 miles to the gallon?

I saw a Veryon on the road. It was going the other way on the freeway and I was going to come around but there was another sports car coming up on it that I was sure was going to prompt him to bend time and accelerate with no hope of my pokey little cargo van ever catching up.

he did say 4 miles to the gallon, but they later pointed out that the 2 sub-models of the Evolution deliver 95% of the fun with none of the drwbacks. The 320 HP one is the one that a lot of people get and drive around like a normal car, but it can still do 0-60 in 5 secs.

Indeed, a modern Lexus is a $70000 Camry with leather seats.

That's the ES model (exactly like a Camry)
But the GS is pretty kick ass, no?

ES models run about 35K USD. The styling on all Lexus/Toyotas is rather bland I think.

I dunno, to the guy who didnt like the subarus transmission, its designed that way to get more low end torque for a better start (or so i think) and its built to last forever, and with the reputation of any mitsubishi breaking down all the time, i think id have to go with a subaru. Although, the Evo has the most powerful factory turbocharger on any car out there today.

After watching that video, the top end version of th eEvo doesn't look worth the money. He did say 47K Pounds? Thats what, roughly 85,000 USD? For a damned compact? Fuck that. Rather buy a Vette Z06, blow both cars away on a roadcourse.

The Evo to get is not the 400 (http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/driven/51083/mitsubishi_evo_viii_mr_fq400.html) which was the one tested. They went for all-out horsepower in that thing, and at some point a little inline four just doesn't do any more, regardless of what sort of turbo you put on there. Unless you're gonna put up with turbo-lag, which was what they demonstrated in the race against the Corsa.
The one to get out of the Eights is the Evo VII FQ-340 (http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/driven/47318/mitsubishi_evo_viii_mr_fq340.html). Alternatively, they have the Evo IX by now, which is even better than the ones in the video. And the Evo X (my favourite magazine recently tested a development mule for the AWD system) is going to be absolutely mad.

I'd go for the EVO, but I'd be happy with the Rex too.

As has been said by others, the Lexus is totally out of it's depth here & shouldn't be compared to the other two. Small luxury sedan with reasonable performance; yes. Balls out budget road rocket; no.

Lexus...

... and you don't have to be rich to drive a Lexus, who ever said that. You just have to have no brains and spend the majority of your modest income on a car because it makes you appear to have money. Trust me, none of my friends parents with $90K cars are rich. They'd probably be rich if they didn't decide to spend $1,900/mo. on a vehicle.
