If you enjoy history, there are a bunch of things to do. I liked my visit to the USS Constitution and to Lexington/Concord. Just a walk through the Commons and the adjacent gardens are nice, too.
MIT, AKA the Georgia Tech of the Northeast, has a nice museum out toward Lechmere on the T.
And don't buy a Charlie card at the airport T. Just buy tokens and have lots of quarters handy for the above-ground T stops.
This thread delivers none of the pictures of Il Ruffino dancing in a teddy I had expected.
Just don't drink the water :p
I love that dirty water

haha...going to my city and my state, all in one trip...
I haven't been down to mystic for years...kinda sad really. The seaport area is pretty nice if I remember correctly, and the aquarium.
As for boston, there is tons. If you want to be a tourist, go to Quincy Market (haymarket sq. T stop), Boston Science museaum, the freedom trail, the aquarium...
if you're looking for good places to eat, I suggest newbury street/boylston st...the Copley station on the green line. There is a pretty chill place called The Pour House if you want cheap. In the Prudential mall, there are two Legal Seafoods, both of which are great. I would skip the cheesecake factory...you'll wait forever, and the food is only okay. Atlantic seafood is expensive, but great. I suggest the orange scallops. Sonsie is another good place to eat...again, a bit pricey, but worth it. If you wanted to do a brunch, I suggest Stephanies on Newbury. Great food. Slightly cheaper for dinner, but more expensive than Pour house is Charlies, again, on newbury.
Newbury is the main shopping district...nice area. Newbury comics is rockin, as is CD Spins, Condom World, and Army Barracks.

Isn't the street-side part that they used for Cheers around the Common?
Then there's always Click and Clack in Cambridge. Do they have a real garage?

Good tips, except I don't love Sonsie. Can't recommend it.
Do dimsum at China Pearl if you're there on a weekend. Look up a map online. It's lost in the middle of Chinatown. Go early, wait in line, it's worth it. It's buffet service for the specials, but everything else is served from carts that cruise endlessly through the dining room. You just flag down a server and take whatever looks good to you, from the simple to the exotic.
Do the museums. They rock. And the aquarium is very cool.
I don't love baseball, but I'm told it's really fun to go to Fenway.
Eat in the North End -- Italian section. Hard to find a bad restaurant there. Get coffee and snacks at Paradiso and buy pastries from The Modern Bakery (I like it better than the more famous Mike's).
Go to Cambridge, from Harvard U, up Massachusetts Avenue, to Porter Square. At the Harvard end there's, well, Harvard, the Harvard Natural History Museum with its glass flowers collection, lots of shops, Bombay Club for Indian food. Heading up Mass Ave, there's lots of history and Forest Cafe, an outstanding expensive Mexican restaurant specializing in mole and tequilas, and Boca Grande, an outstanding cheap Mexican taqueria that I go out of my way to eat at. End up at Porter Square and you're in Little Tokyo. Check the Tokyo style restaurant court in the Porter Exchange building. Every place in there is good, including the sushi bar. From Porter, continue up Somerville Ave, to Davis Square for nightclubs, MacIntyre & Moore (famous used bookstore), and Martsa (my favorite Tibetan restaurant).
Oh and if you get out of town, I STRONGLY recommend the Peabody Museum in Salem. Everyone must see their Chinese house -- an actual house moved from China and rebuilt in the museum. I also STRONGLY recommend the Clam Box in Ipswich. Get the Ispwich clams -- they cost more but they are the best tasting clams in the world.
That should keep you busy for a while. :)

Good tips, except I don't love Sonsie. Can't recommend it.I actually did a huge marketing project on them a few years back, so they just kinda pop into my head. I did forget to mention PF Changs, if you want great chinese. if you have a large group, you get free apetizers.
Also, if you have a car up there, try to hit a Not Your Average Joes...search them on line, there are a few of them, and they are great.

Beware in the north end...it can get confusing and I know some people who have gotten lost. That being said, there are several places right at the enterance...skip over them. Go in deeper. There are literally dozens of family owned places that are amazing. Mikes is great, but I gotta agree that Modern Bakery is better. However, Mikes is next to a cigar bar, and the chick who works there is hot.
rest of the stuff sounds great too. The Museaum of Fine Arts is great, with some really interesting exhibits.
As mentioned before, do NOT get a charlie card. They aren't accepted most places. I suggest getting a ton of tokens. Above ground stops will take tokens or exact change...tokens are easier.
Check the Fleet Center (erm...TD Banknorth Garden...blegh). There might be something in town while you are.
Landmark center has the Longhorn steak house...great steak, pretty cheap. There is also a Cold Stone right there. Great ice cream, and if you tip them a dollar or more, they sing.
Christian Science Center is great to just walk around late at night. They don't like you swimming in the fountains, and get even more angry when you do it naked, but hey...its worth it.
If you are there a friday or saturday night, head to the Lowes Harvard Sq. theater at midnight. They do a full out Rocky Horror midnight showing. It is awesome.

Here's some places I'd recommend while in the Mystic area:
Mystic Aquarium
Mystic Seaport
Old Mystic Village
if you want a good place to eat out, there are some options. I've been to the Steak Loft in Old Mystic Village before (although not in a while), they're good but expensive. Mohegan Sun (in Uncasville) and Foxwoods (in Ledyard) both have a wide variety of excellent restaurants and entertainment (no need to gamble to have a good time there). Finally, there's the Ground Round, which is more reasonable, while still maintaining good quality. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to check out more of the restaurants in the area, so I can't really recommend any others.
If you've got any questions, let me know, and I'll try to answer them as best I can.
