Why does doing the 'right thing' makes you a Socialist?

If you read up, doing all the right things actually make you communist/socialist/left.

They want more equal wages - This means the poor won't be as poor and have a decent standard of living instead of being exploited by the rich who have a cut in their wages (which they don't need anyway). People try and use charities to help raise money for the poorer sections and these are frowned down upon by the greedy and selfish.

Not being racist/sexist/etc are all tenets of a left society, giving everyone an equal say and freedom for and from religion, equality.

People have an society of rights of what they can or can not do, not one of forced collective morality to make you clones or subjects of the 'above'.

You can carry on, but it end's up if you share these values, it points you on the far left. So does that mean the others are greedy, selfish and willing to exploit others for their gain?

Government sanctioned equal wages actually reduce liberties and freedoms. Minimum wage is good; but that is the concept of a capitalist society, not a socialist one.

Some of the socities with the least of those civil liberties mentioned in history, and that exist today, have been to the left of the political spectrum. China currently is to the political left of states like the United States, yet it has less freedom of religion, press, equality, etc. In addition, if you read socialist and communist theory, it is explictly biased against religion, racial and sexual openness.

Do I need to mention all of the experiments in African socialism? Did great for the civil liberties of that continent, didn't it?

What utter nonsense. It is the right wing who believe that individual conscience is the best way to achieve charitable aims. The left believes that you require the intervention of the state because they do not trust the individual to do the right thing for themselves.

They learned this from Christians, where doing the "right" thing was once considered Christian. That way, if you find out you're not a Christian, you were supposed to feel like an ass.

Socialists want you to feel the same way.

But wasn't Jesus a Socialist in principle with his teaches of love for eachother?

"love for each other" isn't a part of socialist theory. Only equality to varying degrees is.

And, if you pay close attention to the culture Jesus lived in, and the theology based around the Jesus mythos and attributed to him, i.e. his sayings in the Gospels, it isn't socialist one bit. No patriarchal religion is socialist.

Oh, so you can't love someone without being a socialist?

Like most things, Socialisim has degrees, I think it is fair to say that socialist thought is better for the majority, for sociaty than, than a mode of thought that discounts some of sociaty.

Solialism, means discounting not one memeber of sociaty no matter their background. Any other mode of though IS basicly discriminatory.

It's a nice method of boot-strapping.

"You want to be a good person, right? Well, doing the right thing is called doing the Christian/Socialist thing, so that means you want to be Christian/Socialist, right? Ok, well, since you've signed on to be a Christian/Socialist, here are all the other beliefs that you've now agreed to hold..."

Do I support equal rights? Hell yes. Do I dislike poverty, starvation, and suffering? Hell yes. Would I love to live in a world where everybody enjoys freedom and plenty? Hell yes. Do I think socialism is always going to be the best way to achieve my kind of ideal world? Hell no.

It's the same problem I have with some environmentalist organizations.

Obviously, if I don't give to Greenpeace, I somehow must be complicit in hunting down whales and the "cute" animals.

No, I don't want to kill the whales either. But giving money to idiots who get their boats confiscated is not my idea of smart.
