Fred Phelps plays by his own rules!

I like to listen to the local talk station whenever I'm doing work, and today from 9-12 we had Keith Larson. (LAMA!) Anyways, apparently Rev. Fred Phelps will be in Greensboro, NC tomorrow to protest the Billy Grahm statue because Billy Boy has gone "soft" on the homosexual issuse. Jeez is it me, or does Phelps seem alittle too obessed with homosexuals? Anyways, today Larson was to interview him and I listen in because I knew this had to be good. Here is the script to the best I can put it.
Larson: Today we have Fred Phelps on the line, he is here to protest the Southern Baptist convention and Billy Grahmn because he has gone soft on the homosexual. Fred I would like to thank you for joining us here at WBT 1110 AM, and 99.3 FM. I really appericate you coming on here today.
Fred: Thank you for having me.
Larson: Now I understand it that you're going to protest Billy Grahm this week , is it tomorrow?
Fred: Yes it is tomorrow, no man should have a graven image of himself, espically if it's a 10 foot graven image.
Larson: Now I got an e-mail here that says you plan on preaching to me, and then hanging up, is that right?
Fred: Well it depends on how you behave, if you try to step all over me then yea I will preach to you, but if you just follow my rules, we'll be fine.
Larson: Yea, but this is my radio show, so shouldn't you be the one worried about stepping all over me?
Fred: This isn't going very well, goodbye. *click*
LOL! I just laughed, because I just found that so funny. Give idiots enough time and they'll reveal themselves as idiots.

More people should do that. Who knows, maybe after a couple thousand of protests with such signs, he'd start realizing something.

I think he's a closet homosexual himself, I mean NO straight person I've ever met (who's also secure with their sexuality) spend that much time on homosexuals. So he's either secretly gay, or he's not secure in his sexuality and is afraid that the gays will get him!

I wouldn't be surprised if he has unfulfilled homosexual desires. The only guy I knew that was that unsecure with his homosexuality had this thing against gays... and the most secure guy I know laughs with me when I make fun of him for going to see his boyfriend (and yes, the latter is perfectly straight).

Has anyone ever tried interruping his church services with protests ?
After all, if he thinks it is perfectly fine to disrupt funerals to spread his messages of hate, he should not be against people dsrupting his prayer session to spread theirs.

Well, if I happened to live in the right country, you can bet your sexy ass I'd join such a protest. I'd bring a sign with something like "God hates nutjobs" or "Homophobes burn in hell" or "Death to bigots".

I actually think it would be better to have something peaceful. A priest speaking of how Jesus taught to love your fellow men and was against judgement and hate and all that stuff. They would have a hard time proving the disruption was insulting then.

Maybe, but they'd just disregard it. They're psychoting hateful nutjobs with froth at the corner of their mouth, you know.
Besides, they insult everyone on a daily basis. If they were to get to court and get a ruling against those signs, I'd jump with joy, as that means every protest they staged from that point on could face judicial charges and win, thanks to the jurisprudence.

Ehh, yea, but then that would be limiting free speech. As much as I hate Fred Phelps, I hate limiting free speech even more. Even though his message is hateful, and it makes real Christian look bad, he is protected by the First Admendment.

Then that means hateful messages directed towards him and his flock of hateful mongrels is also free speech, and fair game, might I add.
I'm usually a very polite, respectful person. But you know, when someone goes out of his way to be an ass and as rude as possible... sometimes I just let the gut reaction take control and answer as just as rudely. Most get the message.

I'm not really angry myself, although I could take what he says personally. Fortunately, I live in country where it would be impossible for him to stage his idiotic little "protests". Thank you Canada, for dispositions against hate crimes and incitation to such crimes.
I just think he deserves to be ridiculed, humiliated, scorned, and despised. Just like he's trying to make others ridicule, scorn, humiliate and despise homosexuals. An eye for an eye, you might call it, even though I'm avowedly agnostic.

Fred Phelps brought his "God hates Fags" people and signs to the University where I work. One enterprising student wore a shirt that had an arrow on it pointing to this students left side and the phrase "Gives good head" and stood next to Fred Phelps all day.

But why sink to his level ? Peaceful protests are so much more subtle...
Week 1: A gospel choir sings in front of the church to profess their love for Jesus. Loudly. Preferably with megaphones.
Week 2: A division of US soldiers sings the national anthem during the service. Repeatedly.
Week 3: The division of US soldiers is joined by a Swedish one. They sing classic Swedish songs, and say a few prayers in Swedish.
Week 4: A group of young adults (I dislike using children in protests like this) has a nice Harry Potter reading marathon. Not that that contains gay passages, but hey - it no doubt is the work of Satan ;)

Screw that softcore crap, I wish a mob of people would show up outside his compound with some gas cans, rags, and lighters. Has it occurred to no one else to burn down that place and take out him and his whole inbred clutch of crazies? Seriously... if I had to choose one person in the world to see struck down-- whether by a sniper's bullet or by an errant cruise missile or (most poetically of all) by a lightning bolt from a clear sky-- it would be him. That man is unadulterated evil.
