Densha Otoko (http://imdb.com/title/tt0456121/)
Just finished watching this short series from Japan... No it's not Anime. It's a love drama that makes me think of Forums like this one and the power that they possess.
An Anime Otaku on his way home, helps a beautiful lady when she's harrased by a drunk. He's infatuated by this beauty, and this socially inept person (25 yrs old) seeks relationship help from an online BBS/Forum (a Single Man's Rant Thread to be exact.) It's quicky apparent that they are from two totally different worlds, however, his feelings for her are real.
Can the forum regulars there help him get the girl of his dreams?
Can he shed his Otaku image for her?
Can she fall in love with an Otaku?
and what happens when she finds out he's been writing about her on the thread?
I watched all 10 eps and Loved it. The boards had the usual elements that most forums have... including Trollers, Flambaiters and posters from every age group and walks of life. Including situations where OnLine romances meet and fail.
Just wondering if anyone else seen this and what other shows/movies protray the support and power of forums?
