In New Zealand, (a real country) there's a new ad for mastercard, it's a collage of people getting hurt/cut and bleeding black everywhere.
If you've seen this ad, waht's your opinion of it. Adn if you find it on the net, can you please leave a linky?

Should mastercard be allowed to have an ad where people get cut and bleed alot (esp the boxer) or is this horribly inappropriate. Especially seeing as NZ has one of the highest records of teenage self-mutilation?

In New Zealand, (a real country)

Did you really have to clarify that?

This is NationStates general. Some people might be thinking I'm referring to a fake country, or even my own nationstate of New Zealandium

I was just thinking that there are probably not a whole lot of people who never heard of New Zealand - the real New Zealand. Now - on with the thread topic:

No I didn't, but that's very interesting. I would like to see this ad if someone knows where I can download it.

LoL. trust me, New Zealand is pretty well known. I don't think you have to make yourself any clearer than that.

but yes, with the mastercard ad, using images of blood is kinda... meh.. not my style anyway.

I'm used to people not knowing what/where NZ is. But mainly im after a link, as well as comments on wether having massive amounts of blood was suitable for tv (saw it around 1PM on a sunday o_O). Oh, in context. It's about them supporting the all blacks, "knowing we're all made of the same stuff: Priceless" right after a guy accidently cutting himself with a razor

I'm still waiting, and looking myself. No-ones put it on google-video yet. and i know of no websites that keep ads like this, maybe i-am-bored when someone decides to put it on a computer.

Aren't they the main sponsor of the "All Blacks"?

LIES.

There is no such place.

It's all a scapegoat made up by Australian governments for pretty much everything.

Carry on.

Who cares? I don't see how most people can connect the two images. Some people are just over-sensitive.

Yeah, the idea is that we bleed black because we are all black supporters (and they are all black sponsers)
And do people really not se a connection between a guy getting cut with a razorblade and. Just nvm, It's at least supporting violence with the guy getting his nose broken.

In Soviet Russia a link waits for you.

I think it is more corporate selling out of the black jersey and i say Ireland for the win!

I haven't seen the ad yet. But self mutilation? From what I've heard, it's about having black blood in relationship to the All Blacks.. In which case, self mutiliation is irrelevant.

Also, I think the All Blacks will lose this weekend.

Ok, you know NZ society. We have one of the highest rates of self-mutilation, you can see it on the streets. It was on the news, then matercard releases an ad where people get cut and bleed black. Black blood surely could mean supporting our rugby team. I'm all fine and happy with them using blood in don't drink&drive ads, its called shock-tactics. But in an ad for a credit card company, it's appropriate for a 30second montage of people bleeding. (black blood = emo :P)

As for this sweekend. ALL BLACKS FTW. yeah we probably wil lose.

Blah.. Yea, our suicide rates are super high. I just don't get what this ad is going to do... It's not going to do anything negative really, is it?

I've just come back from a week on the South Island, enjoyed it as I always do. Nice and chilly this time of year. I caught the advert the day I left, and to be honest its not that bad. So there's a little blood, get over it. Worse things happen all the time on so called "prime-time television", then a bit of fake blood in an advert.

If i saw an ad for Visa where someone tripped over and broke a leg. and had a slogan like, 'true supporters will do anything to see the game, Visa' I'd be shocked. I just don't see how its appropriate at all. Thats all it is. the only other ads on tv that are that graphic are ones by the government about safety. i.e. the falling down the flight of stairs ad, and the car-crash ads.no other company does that, and i feel for good reason. I haven't seen this ad on lately, maybe there's been a complaint?
