I am backing Ivory Coast to win, 2 - 1 - which, given the way my other predictions have gone, means that Argentina will win 6 - 0.

Now Im going to offend the hell out of most of you. I dont like football (soccer, calcio) because Im American. Ill admit my ignorance...I just dont get it. First off, a bunch of guys run around for 90 (well actually like 94.12) minutes and kick the hell out of a ball. Nifty. Do you all know the famous announcer who shouts "Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooal?" (I dont know his name, but If I know who he is, you surely do)....know why he gets so excited? Because he knows he wont see another goal for three weeks. So, most of the time, these guys run around kicking a ball for 94.12 minutes, then get off the field (pitch?) and go have a beer together after playing a 0-0 game. I have ultimate respect for their athleticism, I just dont have the love.

That was the highest-ever-scoring for an opening WC match

Im not above admitting Im wrong-headed... I actually watched the Germany-Costa Rica game (Im giving it a try I really am). And it was entertaining, more or less. I probably get it to a point, since Im a big hockey fan (which is similar, eh?). But Id just as soon watch Arena football.

the first goal was taken aways from us by the Ivorian(that hwo you say it?) goalkeeper, who snatched it from inside the net

and the other one was nto an offside, because the "active" Argentine player did not touch the ball first

Don't complain, neither of those were even close to being a legitimate goal. :D And you still won, despite Ivory Coast playing slightly more attractive football (just IMHO, don't kill me for this...) But both teams played very good, qualitative football, and this was without doubt the best game yet. Holland is going to work very hard to stand a chance against these two teams!!

Both of those goals were perfectly legal.
The referee did nto see the Ivorian goakeeper take it from inside the net
and the other one the Ivorian goalkeeper came itnto contact with the ball before the Argentine player did

Again, "Wow!" is pretty much the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of that game.

The way Côte d'Ivoire played was amazing, they simply never gave up. Great. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them.

Excellent game. Ivory Coast kept on fighting but in the end Argentina came out on top. This world cup is turning out to be a great one.

Couldn't agree more. Germany was pretty dominant in their opener, but c'mon...they were up against Costa freakin' Rica.

Personally, I don't think tomorrows 3 games will cause much excitement (unless theres an upset).. But on Tuesday morning (probably Monday night/day for most of you) Aussie vs Japan looks very good.
