Do you like turkey? I've never been a fan of turkey sandwiches, but a nice slab of turkey breast is good.

Turkey tends to go quite dry very easily. So, no.

No I would much rather eat dried turnip salad than a juicy, plump, turkey with delicate meat smothered in rich gravy.

I like turkey but only if it's smothered in gravy. Otherwise it's too dry. I voted for option 2.

Nope, I'm vegan. And yep, some vegan food tastes minging. But a lot of Redwood's stuff is friggin amazing (some's crap, but a lot is amazing)! If you don't believe me, the one thing you have to try is Super Melting Mozzarella Style Cheezly - it MUST say "super melting" on it... won an award from the vegetarian society (and of course, vegetarians usually eat cheese, so they know what cheese tastes like)

I just had a fantastic turkey sandwich. It had pepper encrusted turkey breast, pickled mixture of olives onions carrots spicy and sweet peppers, oil and vinegar, and fresh red onions on a crusty rustic bread. It didn't really taste like a turkey sandwich. It tasted like happiness.

lol you're either trying to be funny, are ignorant, or are really confused :P

I'm vegan for similar reasons that many vegetarians are vegetarian - because I don't want to take part in animal suffering. I can't be arsed explaining right now, so just look at http://www.vegansociety.com . No, I'm not part of PETA. I've heard too much bad stuff about PETA. May consider joining Viva or that place that's against animal vivisection (but NO, I will not be one of the supposed "animal rights" extremists who go around digging up dead bodies and doing other sickening things. Just as terrorists are a disgrace to islam, those "animals rights" extremists I just mentioned are a disgrace to the animal rights movement).

Sure they are. That's why the AMERICAN MEAT INSTITUTE suggests we can survive without eating them - they did a study that showed that, in general, vegetarians are healthier than meat-eaters. And there are plenty of healthy vegans too (obviously I'm NOT taling about the ones who eat nothing but leaves). http://www.worldveganday.org/gallery/main.php

Personally, I think we were made to be omnivorous, so yes, eat meat, vegetables, and fruit, but we don't need to torture animals, and animals were not put on this planet just for us to eat and keep us warm. Animals are part of the ecosystem and are part of the food chain just like us and should be treated with respect. So eat meat if you want, but don't torture the animals, and don't just kill for the horns.

This thread make me want a nice turkey meal. I love the way my parents cook a turkey. It comes out so moist and tender, its like a slice of heaven, made out of meat.

Multiland, I appreciate the fact that you're a vegan. That means there's more meat for me. :D One thing I want to ask though, is why do vegetarians try to make their meat substitutes taste and look like meat? I'm talking about stuff like vegetarian hamburgers, vegetarian pepperoni, etc.

We should eat the way nature intended us to eat: while the animal is still moving. I mean, how many times have you seen a lion making a sandwich with a zebra? The thing is still twitching! Same with bears and trout!

Actually, most vegetarians and vegans are less healthy then a healthy meat eater BUT most of the very unhealthy people also happen to consume shit loads of meat. If you are a healthy vegetarian, you would not get all the neccesary proteins and fats, allthough you will get proteins and fats, you will not get enough variety or as good quality ones.

If you cook turkey properly, it won't be dry. I like oven bags, you sacrifice the crisp skin, but I don't to eat that anyway. Or you can deep-fry the turkey which results in both tender, juicy white meat and crisp, flavorful skin.

Anyway, properly prepared, turkey rules.

I don't like turkey at all, and only eat it at Thanksgiving to avoid unnecessary drama. And then, only enough to be polite (after everyone leaves, I usually cook something else for my real dinner).

Served plain, turkey's too dry. And the only ways to make it palatable are either to drown it with gravy, or to get the stuff that's injected with so much spiced broth it doesn't taste remotely like turkey anymore. IMO anything that sucks when it's plain, isn't really any good. The taste shouldn't have to be covered up for something to be edible.
