If we go by Nazi Germany for Fascism and Soviet Union for Communism, I'll say Communism because I'm a blonde hair, blue eyed whitey.

Are we talking proper Communism, or the "Communism" that is actually known as Stalinism?

And for Fascism, I assume you mean Mussolini as opposed to Hitler (who was even loopier...)

Fascism. It tends to be exclusive, even scapegoative, while Communism, for all it's faults, tends to be incorporative, i.e. it treats everyone the same way (the same bad way, but the same.

Silly question. True communism has never been implemeted on a national scale (nor will it ever be).

Mussolini was a true Fascist, Hitler was more of the Socialist variety of Fascist known as a Nazi.

Communism, I mean Marx/Engels type Communism.

Communisms basic beliefs are to spread wealth and labor to every individual.

Fascism is more of the uniting of people of the same race or looks or so on.

Communism tends to include everyone and try to be equal. But the way I see it, fascism tends to exclude people.

So I would have to say Communism.

What form of Communism do you speak of?

If we go by existing communist governments then they could be just as bad.

However, that was not the Utopia Marx had dreamt of. It was a world where the men in charge decided your place in society, and would kill you if you disobeyed.

Marx said each to their desires and their abilities. Don't want to think of all the great artists who were forced into industrial work.

Facism is not the polar opposite of Communism.

Fascism

1. A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.
2. A political philosophy or movement based on or advocating such a system of government.

Sounds a bit like some of the "Communist" governments we have seen.

I'd rather live under Platonic style Fascism than egalitarian Communism, so long as I was part of the Guardians. ;)

In a fascist state generally you are allowed some degree of freedom provided you do not speak out against the state or the ruling party. In a communist state the concept of individuality is destroyed and with it the very notion of freedom which is denounced as bourgeois. Fascist states also appear to have higher levels of general prosperity.

This debate is based on simple generalisations that ignore variations in both ideologies, still for the large part I would say that I would much rather live in a fascist state than a communist one.
