That puts a smile on the faces of the Roman Catholic clergy. ABSTINENCE is the best method of birth control!

Well done Ecudor, good defensive display and had a better cutting edge. I felt sorry for the Poland fans though, they sung their hearts out but their team lacked a cutting edge to go with the amount of time they had the ball till too late.

That just really pisses me off.

I hope ecuador goes no further in the cup. And that Poland beats the Germans.

See, we didn't forget Poland although they did lose!
At least Costa Rica scored against Germany.

No need to panic, really.

How does the hymn go:

Jeszcze Polska nie zginęła.
Noch ist Polen nicht verloren.
Poland has not perished yet.

And with a German defense like that, all is possible.

It's Polish defense we have to worry about. :D

How can you support a country with a wimpy song like that?

Over the last hundred years or so, I don't think "Polish defense" and "worry" have ever been uttered in the same breath.

I support the country with the hymn about concord, justice and freedom.

Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit.

Doesn't mean I'm against Poland. I'm from the part of Germany where people have surnames like Grabowski, Gemballa, Kaplinowski, Witkowiak, Kasprzak etc. We're all half Polish at the Ruhr, anyway.

By the way, if you feel like slagging off Poland, think of this:

Prussia was abolished in 1945, Nazi Germany ended in unconditional surrender, Austria-Hungary is long gone, as is Czarist Russia; the Soviet Union collapsed,
but Poland is still around.

Like the Warsaw uprising: the 2 opposing Generals were named Komorovski and Zelevski.

Marching through Gelsenkirchen?
The German National Party, NPD, is having a demonstration in the place where still a lot of kinda pissed-off Poles reside.
Fun, fun, fun.
Couldn't find a link in English, sorry (http://www.spiegel.de/politik/deutschland/0,1518,419332,00.html)

Here we go:

from www.tagesschau.de (news site)

"In der WM-Stadt Gelsenkirchen haben rund 5000 Menschen friedlich gegen Rechtsextremismus und Fremdenhass demonstriert. Damit nahmen an der Gegendemonstration gegen einen NPD-Aufmarsch etwa 25 mal so viele Menschen teil wie an der NPD-Demo, zu der lediglich 200 Anhänger kamen."

In Gelsenkirchen, city of the World Cup, 5000 people peacefully protested against right-wing extremism and xenophobia. That is 25 times as many as the 200 participants rallied by the NPD.

Well done, Gelsenkirchen.

Well, I knew from the beginning that we Poles would lose. :) My bet is that we'll defeat Germany, but lose with Costa Rica;)

Talking about extremists, I am waiting for the moment when German neo-Nazis will clash with Polish hooligans:mp5: :mp5: :mp5:

And by the way, have You heard about that T-shirt incident? Germans made a T-shirt with "in '39 we needed a month, in '06 we'll need only 90 minutes" inscription. Poles responded with "without Russians in 17. minute you're going to lose"

How many people d'ya reckon saw the start of the post only (Ecuador Defeats Poland!!!) and thought 'how the heck did that war come about?'

But seriously, Ecuador winning got me out of washing up the pots and pans. Though my dad wasn't happy with my 'PANS! You're gonna be washin pans, you're gonna be washing pans, you're gonna be washing pans!' chant.
