Because everyone pretends to hate gays - insecure masculinity, not feeling confident enough in their own sexuality to admit to not having a problem with a man taking it up the ass - and feel that in order to prove their disapproval, they must start a thread on how homosexuality is wrong, immoral, sacreligious - you know the sort of thing I'm on about.

I don't really know why so many crop up but I figure a bunch get started by homophobic motherfuckers without realising how delightfully liberal (in the literal, liberty/freedom-loving equality-of-persons minded sense of the word) the majority of NS forum-goers seem to be, and a bunch get started by people who're like "wow, look at how many threads there are that are implicitly heterosexual-themed but no one points it out because they're so accustomed to heterosexuality as an invisible norm." Seriously, like less than 10% of the threads are gay-themed, which is actually underrepresentative of demographic population estimates, but think of how many threads would stand out as 'heterosexuality' ones, if people were more sensitive to notice heterosexuality instead of taking it for granted.

Why? NS seems to go through these phases. For a while it was abortion threads, then creationism, then back to abortion, then Iraq, then something else, then creationism again and so on.
I think it's due to new ppl joining, posting thread that interest them, which gets everyone thinking about that topic, throw in something topical that's reported in the media, and before you know, every other thread is on that same bloody topic.
Luckily NS'ers have pretty low attention spans, being all AHDH as we are, and move onto something else before long.
