World Cup news for you.

Ronaldhino, being the World Player of the Year, is overly concerned that teams want to stop his style of attack. Oh Noes! They cant do that! How will Brazil breeze through the World Cup?
Brazil star Ronaldinho has asked referees to protect him and his team-mates at the World Cup.

The Barcelona superstar, 26, believes Brazil's opponents will attempt to stop them from playing their attractive style of football in Germany.
Isnt that what you're supposed to do? Stop your opponent's play?
Ronaldinho added: "Every team we play regardless of their normal style of play defend against us.
umm, duh? who plays and doesnt defend?
"We are mindful that it is difficult to score goals in that case."
HELLO, that's the point of defense!

so, why is Ronaldhino whining for protection from the obvious and normal?

Jeez, when i saw the article title I thought he was being stalked or something. Until I realized he was just being a wuss and complaining that teams would dare to defend against the allpowerful brazilians.

WTF are the referees supposed to do to protect his team's style of offense? Should they trip opposing players or something?

Ronaldinho has become a whinny brat of late. If you watch him play, when he loses the ball (which he does with suprising frequency) he immediately turns to the ref and asks for a free kick to be awarded. Annoyingly he often gets awarded the free kick even when there was not even the slightest suspicion of a foul.

The direction by Blatter that the more 'skillful' players should be protected by the referees is complete nonsense. The rules should be the same for everyone. If it is a foul it is a foul. It shouldn't matter if it is Ronaldinho or Australia's Luke Wilkshire that is fouled, and if it is not a foul, then it is not.

I kind of agree with him in a strange way. The World Cup is an exhibition of the greatest football played in the world and it doesn't really mean anything in terms of money being won or even prestige to the country. So with that in mind I think it would be cool to see a tournament where the great skillful attacks in the world have a bigger impact than solid but dull defenses.

(bear in mind that I'm biased, I grew up watching United play the we'll score one more than you style of football in the 90's)

Well boohoo, you big wuss. Frankly, he should come and play some sunday league football, he'll soon learn that those who consistantly complain are the ones who are more likely to be kicked in future.

As AB Again said, rules are for everyone, shouldn't have to change them to suit someone who doesn't have the physical presence to succeed. Football is not a non contact sport.

He forgot to mention he might be subject to a "racist" remark. Afterall, it's germany. Germans should play their football apologetically...

Just his usual racist nonsense. Nothing to worry about.

Anyway, I think Ronaldinho is indeed being a whiny bitch. As said before, the rules apply to everyone.

He is a bit of an idiot. Yeah I get his point but you're the best player in the world and people are going to be marking you.

Huh, FIFA player of the year, yes - best player in the world - bullshit.

There is no such thing as the best player in the world. How would you compare Ronaldinho to Terry or Ibahimovich, or even better to Buffon. It can't be done. He may well be the best in the role that he plays, but this does not make him the best player in the world.

Sorry, but living in Brazil I am sick of Ronaldinho - o melhor do mundo! :gundge:

I used to think that England went football crazy during the world cup, then I moved to Brazil. You have absolutely no idea. Last time it was ridiculous as Japan and Korea are literally on the other side of the world, so the whole of life got shifted by 12 hours. This time, at least, the matches will be during the afternoons here. It just means that the schools will stop teaching, there will be no university classes, it will be difficult to get emergency services to respond etc.

One of our big mining companies (Companhia Vale do Rio Doce) is advertising (what it is that they are advertising I have no idea) based on the World cup. etc. etc.

I hate to think what would happen if Ronaldinho got injured.

Jesus Christ.

I'm a purist, and really hate teams such as Liverpool and Chelsea, but for fucks sake.Given how Barca played against AC Milan, how can he talk?

Actually, what does he expect? Defences to chase the ball and be maqde mugs out of all in the name of football? Moron.
