Montserrat?

Well, having just returned from a nice vacation sailing in the British Virgin Islands, I thought I'd pose a quandry to the people of General.

While I was down there, we had a few high haze, cloudy days. This was explained by someone saying the volcano in Montserrat had blown its top. Now, I knwo this has happened before, but I cant seem to find any news on it. I'm unsure if anyone died or things like that. Not one news source I've checked has mentionned it.

So, General, do you have any idea of what I'm talking about? Or is this all a hazy charade to blame the weather?

They could have been talking to the one that happened back in 1997 (I think), which rendered the majority of the island uninhabitable with the majority if the population being evacuated.

EDIT: It appeared to be 1995. Good old wiki:

If the volcano spews regularly, as the article indicates, then could it be that it's so common as to not be newsworthy?

No idea about any volcanoes. But I do know that Montserrat is ranked at the bottom of the list for best national soccer teams, somewhere along Bhutan.

Yes, one would expect them to do better, what with a pool of some 5000 people to draw from.

Personally I'd like to see a tourney between the worst teams in soccer, it would make for some interesting games.
