... but will probably be cheered and made unofficial patron saints of the city considering the bomb was a blessing in blessing in diguise for much of the city.

So hurray for bombers for accidently regenerating the city without killing anyone in the process. :)

They should be celebrated as heroes, of course. Anyone who bombs anything is, in reality, a misunderstood artist.

Well, they got the Arndale centre...woo.

Now if they'd got Old Trafford :D Now THAT would have been brilliant.

I was in town today and was wondering if they could come back and finish the job off. :)

Hehe, would be nice. Them and the Commonwealth games did a hell of a lot for Manchester.

That said though, I know a few people who were injured in that explosion, so if i met any of those who did it, they would go straight into the list of people to be kicked in teh bollocks whilst wearing steel capped boots.

The SAS didn't seem to have any trouble sniping them there.

I remember watching that in realtime having been moved from the center while out shopping with my parents.

I remember hearing one of my mothers friends tell her about how she was too scared to even speak to the paramedics dealing with the horrendous cuts she received to the face and neck from flying glass because she had an Irish accent.

I remember my best friend being too scared to go back to Manchester city center after being there when it went off. She still avoids it today.

You'll forgive me for not celebrating the people who did it.

Lots of glass cuts, some tendons severed etc. They're ok, but nto without some shock at the events etc.

Quite frankly, couldn't give a flying f**k who they are. In an ideal world they would recieve said punishment whilst blind folded so they wouldn't know who stopped their chances of having kids...

this was on another thread. i nor anyone else from this side of the pond has ever heard of the SAS or any other Brit regiment using snipers.

i just watched the video from the story. was it filmed by the terrorists? cuz it was focusing right on the truck that exploded and then panned out to see the mushroom cloud. or was there some jounalist or intelligence agency that knew it was going to happen and didn't tell anyone?

the IRA, like most of their attacks, gave a warning allowing the police to evacuate. that was security CCTV scoping the assumed bomb.

Well, fuck, I was there too but you have to admit our town was a dump. I bet it really was City fans who perpetrated the attack. Unfortunately they missed Old Trafford by quite a distance.

Oh, Manchester was a dump but I can think of better ways of fixing it than blowing the crap out of the center.

I'm a red by the way, If the IRA were going for a football stadium then they were alot closer to Maine Road then Old Trafford, something that would make sense when you remember that United are traditionally a catholic club whereas City are a protestant club.

Ah, I hear your argument and accept it's merit. Still, with a bit of luck that dodgy B of the Bang statue thingy will collapse backwards and take out the City of Manchester stadium.:p

Fortunately (for me) I live in a progressive country where we don't have capital punishment.
