Bet I can beat most of you. Saturday, I found out that an "ex" of mine is HIV positive. I missed half a days work to get tested and NEGATIVE, Yes negative(does happy/lucky/victory dance). I was sweating bullets and sleepless nights between the time I found out and went to my doctor and got my results. Now I'm on a highg you would'nt believe. I'm gonna quit drugs and keep dodging bullets, it's a great feeling.

Though I've yet to be tested, my greatest fear was also getting HIV.

That and that one time I was nearly killed by a weedwacker.

Scariest moment of my life would have to be the recent car accident I was involved in. The moment I saw that I was about to have a head on collision going 40 mph I literally thought I was about to die. Right after the accident, I couldn't believe that I had survived the crash. I kept checking my whole body for broken bones and all i could find was a few cuts, and a few aching muscles.

I get scared by stupid shit. Like one time my friends and I were walking around, and thought this creepy guy was following us. We lost him without incident, thankfully, but that didnt scare me half as much as seeing a mouse scurrying along in side of a store we passed that same night. Odd how I can keep my cool in a much more serious, threatening situation, but the sight of a mouse makes me so frightened i nearly cried.

Yeah, no where near worrying about HIV. Although the most frightened I'd been in a situation like that was when I was 16 and thought my boyfriend and I had a little us, but thankfully I was just running late. Yeah. Couldnt sleep for a week or two, definately scary.

i actually had a weed whacker moment...it flicked a rock at my eye at supersonic speed, yet it was like slow mo,i saw it coming and just looked at it till it nailed me in the eye,and did some interesting damage.

my personell scariest moment was when my son turned blue from choking on a dunkin donuts donut hole(well 2 of them) when he was 2, while i was driving to xmass dinner, and i had to go to a vet's office and they freaked out.closeist medical place i could find.
i ended up getting the obstruction out with a slim jim(car breaking into tool) with the attending vet,who shook like he was in a war zone afterwards.

needless to say,i fed that boy oatmeal and apple sause for a friggen year....whew!

broke a bunch of his ribs doing cpr as well, but he is going into the army in 2 weeks so he lived thru it and then some.

gave me gray hairs....prematurely i might add.

Waiting for the results is always nervracking. Even when you know that there's only one possible result. But how did you get the results so fast? Maybe they have different tests but I've always waited 3 weeks.

Good for you. My scariest experience was when I thought I was going to hit a 60 ton (kilos) lorry but I managed to cut enough speed and drive off the road.

I took a test that gets results in 48 hours if you pay to overnight your specimen and get results online. I'll call my doctor and get more information about places you can get the test performed, if you need it.

scariest moment for me was finding a lump on my testicle, luckily it was just a cyst but got me checking more often.

One time I accidentally offended the wrong guys gf when I was about 14. Next time I was in town, I was in this Computer games shop just lookin' around. Then I looked out the shop door and across the road and theres this guy and about 20 of his mates staring over at me. Heh, I ran to the bus stop and was so lucky a bus came straight away.. Fuckin' scary though.

Riding my bicycle on a rainy day, I strayed onto some wet tram tracks & immediately found myself eating the asphalt. Lying spreadeagled in the middle of the road I looked up & saw a car coming straight at me. Fortunately the driver saw me in time & managed to swerve out of the way. I really thought I was going to die.

I dropped a metal chunk into an empty light bulb socket once, was quite pretty, but after I unplugged it I was shaking like a leaf for a hour or so. Other then that I would say the three times I touched a live electrical wire (inside the house, low voltage) though that was really more of an adrenaline high then anything else. :)

Well, the time I thought I lost my passport in India.I thought I was going to be a refugee in India...or I might have to stay forever in the Indian airport. Oh god...I was shitting myself, almost.

Then it turned out my friend had picked it up when I looked away for a second, because he thought I was going to forget it or something. And then he walked off somewhere for like 20 minutes while I frantically searched and practically had the entire airport staff organizing a search party.Idiot...I was just putting down for a second to eat my sandwich.I still like him, though.

Not to harsh your joy, but if it's been less than 6 months since you last had possible exposure to her, that HIV neg result isn't exactly for sure. Get tested again when it's been 6 months since the last possible exposure.

Now that is scary. I don't suppose I've ever been that terrified.

damn... My scariest moment was when I slid down a muddy mountain side and almost off the end of a cliff. a dead stump of a guava tree saved my life, and that broke off just after I pulled myself up.

not sure... quite probably the car crash we had when i was 11, but it was 10 years ago now and i don't remember that well. i should think i was scared though :p (had to be cut out the car, yadda yadda - not much fun. they thought my neck was broken, too, which was iirc the most frightening thing)

that or, more recently, either other car crash, at uni, when we went 60 head-on into a wall (and walked away without a scratch, somehow), or when my mate was driving us round birmingham on a busy motorway, high, at about 120mph.

suffice it to say, i'm not much of a fan of cars these days, what with 3 friends at school dying in car/motorcycle crashes as well :(

ooh and just a thought - not sure if it counts - but when i tried shrooms first in amsterdam they kinda reacted badly with the depression and i ended up thinking/hallucinating that i was in a hole in the ground, like a grave, unable to move, for maybe half an hour (time had lost some meaning :p) before i could pull myself out to go throw up and have a spliff to calm down :P

I had sleep paralysis, where you wake up unable to move and your still dreaming. Utterly terrifying.

A couple of months ago I was ill and the symptoms weren't quite cheerful (double-vision). It got worse when the doctors started ruling out chances: no tumour, no aneurism...so everything pointed to multiple sclerosis. And it all was building up for me to have to wait some 12 days to perform the MR to find out  I'd probably die of anxiety before getting the tests back! So one of the doctors that assisted me made an effort to speed things up in order for me to do the MR in that very same day, and the results showed it wasn't MS (it actually was something more rare and unlikely, but a lot less severe).

Depending on the length of that drop, that has to be the scariest thing on here to me.

Getting tested is scary, yes, but your not going to die immediately.

In this case, you would have probably died.

Depends on the test methodology. The standard EIA test for HIV is reasonably quick, but not as accurate as the Western Blot, which will take much longer, say, three weeks.

Indeed. Life or death situations are always going to much scarier.
