Bill Clinton. Traitor.

Bill Clinton should be arrested and tried for treason. During the early years of his administration he actually gave US nuclear technology to Nrth Korea in an attempt to bribe them not to build nuclear weapons. This was pointed out time and time again during the presidential campaign of 2000. We need to be tough with our enemies and not try to bribe them. This only leads to more rouge behavior if we continue to act like sissys on the world stage. Below is an article from the early ninties when Clinton decided to sell out the US to North Korea.

U.S. offers Iran nuclear technology as incentive
World powers offer reward package to persuade Tehran to curb enrichment
Updated: 50 minutes ago

TEHRAN, Iran - World powers on Tuesday gave Iran a package of incentives that includes U.S. nuclear technology to persuade Tehran to curb its uranium enrichment program, and the Islamic republic’s initial reaction was relatively upbeat.

Speaking on state television after receiving the proposals, top Iranian nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani said the initiative contains “positive steps” but also some “ambiguities.”

Larijani, who met with European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana, called the talks “constructive” and said Iran would respond after studying the incentives.

You need to go back and look at your opening post, because something is seriously not making sense there.

And treason is a really fucking strong charge to make at someone, since it involves attempting to overthrow the legitimate government of the US--much as I dislike Bush, I've never accused him of that, and to say that this--whatever you're arguing--rises to that level is ludicrous.

And I own a message board that has been very popular but is down right now. I shoudl have learned my own lesson. I kinda wanted to make it a little subtle, though. I wanted people to think I was serious and then catch on when they read the article. A rolly eye purple face would have given it away too easily.

having said all that, back to the point. Because Bush was arrogant enough and incompetent enough to, well, Iraq the fuck up, the US is now in a position to have to do for Iran what we did for North Korea a decade or so ago. The US and Europe are now in a position of having to negotiate with Iran from a position of weakness, not strength, and it's all because we look like a paper tiger in Iraq.

You might be interested to know the nuclear technology the US is keen to spread around is one that avoids a costly Uranium enrichment cycle. A process which is both fantastically intensive, and is a crucial step in producing nuclear weapons. It's an excellent sieve, those that are interested in nuclear technology to solve and economic problem are neatly seperated from those with other motivations.

I absolutely agree and Bill Clinton did it right. By giving North Korea free light water reactors he was essentially calling their bluff. At that point they had to either admit they were building nukes or accept the reactors and stop processing the fuel. What I object to is the Bush admin's use of that in calling Clinton, and by extension Gore, weak and then turning around and doing the same thing. Especially in light of the fact that, had he been a little smarter in dealing with Iraq, either by avoiding a needless war or fighting it correctly, we probably wouldn't even be in this position. Now we ARE weak. Iran started blustering about nuclear tech about a year ago when it became clear we were over our heads in Iraq. Interesting timing.

I don't blame the current administration for the Republican thwarting of a reasonable foriegn policy under Clinton. That was entirely a legislative problem. That the current administration, in the light of practically uncountable failures of spectacular magnitude at nearly every level in every arena is trying to do one thing well.... I'm not sure I can hold their attempt to do the right thing against them, even if it does smack of Republican hypocrisy.

In truth, I bare at least some responsibility for the failing. With all the Title IX bullshit, the check writing scandal, et al, I voted for the republican legislators and their "Contract with America." Fiscal responsability, ending the social engineering bullshit, bringing integrity back into politics. An intoxicating message for a young man. Little did I imagine the fantastic liars they would eventually be revealed to be.

Yeah, any nation who calls us "Great Satan" and who funds terrorists against us worldwide is definitely not our friend...and a nation who attacked us and kidnapped hundreds of citizens from our allies (like NK) isn't one either. They are our enemies, and if they could they would do anything in their power to weaken or even kill us.

Hell, that doesn't include the billions in aid dollars the North Koreans steal or misappropriate from us or the loans they never paid back...and doesn't even include the people starving because the nutjobs in Pyongyang use the threat of US attack to support their massive army.

Also, giving light-water reactors to NK in exchange for no nukes is a good idea in agreement with the OP.
