The first rule of White Text Club. You do not talk about White Text Club.
What do you mean by German piss water? I thought only USAmericans make piss water.

None of the mentioned ones. Rauchbier is a way of brewing that you will only find in Bamberg, Germany.
U is a bit like lager, but much stronger and tastier.

I might have been overly harsh there.

I had some German beer when I went to Bavaria, and it really was very watery. Of course, that's not to say all German beer is like that.

I tend to prefer darker types, but lager styles are good when the weather is warmer. I'll pretty much drink most beers, but some (Tooheys New & Red, Corona, Budweiser & other American types) I will avoid if possible.

Not as cold as lager styles, but that can be hard to acheive. I tend to keep them in the fridge, because I prefer to drink them too cold, rather than warm. If I'm organised I'll take them out some time before drinking them, but I usually forget after a couple!

Well, I mostly drink pilseners, which I guess falls under the lager category. I'll take a good Stout, Brown Ale, or IPA any day, though. Bock is nice now and then, but not too often.

I think the only type of beer I've ever tasted that I just really couldn't stand was Trappist beer. Horrible, horrible stuff.

There are plenty of good local breweries in the States. I went to a few when I was over there in 2000 and although I can't remember the names of them there were some great honeys beers and tasty lagers I tried in New England.

Don't judge the States by the mass produced crap of Budweiser and Miller, if you go find the smaller local brews, you'll know there are hundreds of amazingly good beers to be had.

I mean come on, if the Belgians can accept it, I'm sure you can too :p

Belgium Brewers Guild Honors Americans
Four Americans were knighted by the Knighthood of Brewers in Belgium last autumn. The four were recognized for their contributions to the art of Belgian brewing and for creating an interest in Belgian beer in the U.S. Honored at the ceremony were Randy Thiel of Brewery Ommegang, Tom Peters, co-owner of Monk's Cafe in Philadelphia, Eddie Friedland, owner of Edward I. Friedland distributorship in North Philadelphia and Joe Lipa of Merchant du Vin Importers.

Commenting on his Knighthood, Sir Joe remarked: "I sampled my first Belgian beer in 1979 and knew this country was producing something special. Over the years I have had the honor to work with Belgium's most respected brewers like Orval, Westmalle, Lindemans and Huyghe. I also have had the honor to work with some great Belgian beer bars like Monk's Cafe, Sharp Edge and Lucky Baldwin's, who also were knighted for their efforts. It has taken many years for the Belgian beer scene to happen, but it's here now big-time."

Yeah, but Bamberg was only a hop skip and jump away. Perhaps when I go to France next spring semester I'll go visit some of my old haunts in Hessen, and possibly go to Bamberg to try this beer. Although I was quite fond of St. Florian Brau at the Friedberger brauhaus.

Amen brother. The really good USAmerican beers are excellent. I was severely pissed off when my parents moved to be near my brother in Iowa, as the local micro-brewery had a honey weizen that I might easily kill for. That was until I discovered the local Iowa micro-brewery's oatmeal stout. http://www.world-of-smilies.com/html/images/smilies/party/marc3.gif
