This is going to be a poll. Assuming they all were legal, and you would not get in trouble with anyone else (like your parents or spouse), which drugs would you consider taking?

I don't care if you actually do take any of these drugs, legally or illegally, though you can say that if you want. Just which ones might you, if you wouldn't get in any more trouble than the chemical itself caused?

It doesn't count if you'd only do it on your deathbed or as a form of deliberate suicide.

By the way, I didn't forget about opium, PCP, adrenaline, life, or NOTA. It's just that the poll only allows ten options.

So far mushrooms are significantly more popular than LSD. Anyone who answered one but not the other, what affects your choice of hallucinogen?

I'd 'consider' all of them (well, you have to learn the facts to make an informed decision). However, I'd only actually take the ones I use currently: caffiene and alchohol. While these are by no means harmless (well, caffiene probably is in the quantities I take it) I have no desire to be sucked into an increasingly black-looking grey area. We all have to draw a line somewhere, and I draw mine where the current law is. Even if the law changed, or I moved to a less restrictive country, I wouldn't change my habits.

Oh, and don't even get me started on smoking. Cigarettes are the devils work, and he has a hold on everyone around me.

Caffeine and Alcohol I've tried both, and I liked both.

I only do, and would continue to do marijuana only. I only smoke it sparingly and only to relax at home.

I'm just too lazy to be a drug addict, its too much work and it fucks up your body. I mean, having to find a dealer, dodging the cops, having to steal and to sell your stuff and prostitute yourself for money to get more... UGH its just too much trouble... Besides, who does cocaine anymore? :confused: Am I out of touch?

I can only imagine what would happen if the government demed caffeine illegal. There would be rioting in the streets!! a civil war!!!

I wouldnt do any that I had to inject. Needles worry me.

I kind of have a three-category stance on drugs.

1. Things that are easily manageable. They of course have a potential for addiction like anything does but it's easy to avoid and use little enough that you don't get addicted.Their effects are episodic, they don't spill over into the rest of life, and you can still function while on them. Caffeine, alcohol, marijuana go in this category (from the list). Okay by me.

2. Things that are intense but nonaddictive. Mostly hallucinogens go here - they aren't physically addictive at all and the effects are episodic, but they screw you up while you're on them. LSD and mushrooms go here. Cautionary, but okay if you know what you're getting into.

3. Things that are invasive and addictive. They are easy to get badly addicted to before you realize what's going on. Their effects can be long term and/or impair your everyday functioning. Nicotine, ecstasy, cocaine, heroin, meth. I wouldn't touch these.

Of course there is the occasional $400/month pothead and the occasional person who tries heroin once or twice and then walks away fine - but these are the general effects I see and hear of. So there's my philosophy.

Alcohol and caffeine, in negligible quantities - as is my practice now. "None of the above," for all practical purposes.

I don't much like things that mess with my mind.

The only thing I take now is caffeine, after a hard battle to quit smoking. If it weren't for the strong addiction, heroine would be the indisputably top notch high.

By the way, is there such a thing as a real marijuana addicition? I seriously doubt it, cigarettes are way more addictive than pot.

All except LSD or mushrooms...my mind is already pretty ****ed up, without adding hallucinogens...

Ecstacy, Coke, Meth, Heroin, PCP, Crack.... all of em can fuck directly off.
The rest, when used in moderation, are harmless.

Sad to say, but yes Extacy is dirty as hell. Mixed with speed and meth just to give it more oomph.

However if it were legal, clean MDMA could be synthesized and openly tested.

MDMA = Good

Extacy = Bad

Nicotine, valium, vicodin, marijuana, ecstasy and alcohol...cocaine.

Caffeine, alcohol, weed and 'shrooms...

Haven't tried mushrooms yet :p

As for stuff not on the list, I would also consider opium.

If they were all legal, I'd still only take caffeine, and spend a lot of time trying to get the others made illlegal again.

Acid and mushrooms would be the first I'd tick off.

I already smoke weed, drink alcohol and tea. Wouldn't go near heroin, meth, cocaine or nicotine. Far too addictive, and I have an addictive personality. I'd probably turn into a junkie!

i've taken them all except meth and heroin, but wouldn't again if they were legal. well, maybe the odd spliff down the local coffeehouse to relax after a shitty day at work, or the odd E, but the rest... nah thanks, not any more (actually, maybe shrooms again if they were legal but that's a real 'maybe')

See, my Daddy, uncle and I have had these conversations. Between the two of them, they've done most of the drugs on the list, so they've told me what's worth it and what's not. Marijuana, of course, is the f'cking bomb. It is also the centrepiece of some of the (http://personal.strawberii.net/story3.html) most famous stories (http://personal.strawberii.net/story29.html) exchanged in my family (http://personal.strawberii.net/story7.html). Basically, we all think that cannabis should be legalised 'cause, I mean, when was the last time you met a really violent stoned guy? I mean, on Cops, you see all the pissed off drunks, and alcohol is legal, so why not friendly cannabis?

I've been told that LSD is like being on a rollercoaster to hell, so I'm gonna avoid that one. Psychodelic mushrooms are questionable because, first of all, they're grown in cow shit, and secondly, they can be toxic. Cocaine, Daddy was really fond of in the early eighties, and everyone loved him at parties because he just seemed happy to be there, but he says that it's sort of not worth it because of the price. Heroin is super questionable, although morphine is sweet ass, and meth is also super questionable. I mean, come on, bleach and mothballs? And f'ck meth, I can't even buy Sudafed at Walgreens anymore without showing my ID and signing a form because of all of the meth lab busts around here in recent years.

As for E, I think that the story from b3ta sums it up for me:

Back at university I lived next door to this guy who helped to run a university sponsored dance club. For some reason this required him to be off his bonce on E all the time, and to play intensely loud techno through my bedroom wall at all hours. In fact the only time it was quiet was when the fucker was out running the club.

One night Jon returned from clubbing, on, we estimate 8 Es. He came in as normal, but quickly went balistic, and started screaming at Sean (our token stoner flatmate)'s door. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH SARAH YOU C*NT! WHERE IS SARAH? YOU BASTARD, I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU. I mean, in a REALLY unhinged way. He then started to kick Sean's door down. a) He was going to kill Sean
b) Sean had actually done something to Sarah, and Jon was going to kill Sean

After trembling in my bed for the remainder of the night imagining Jon stalking the flat with a knife, I awoke to a silent flat, Sean's broken door, and the explanation.

"Sarah" was Jon's Sarah Lee chocolate cake, which he had purchased that morning. Sean had got stoned, eaten the whole cake, and then gone out to his girlfriend's....

If we're getting specific though, the use of phenethylamines isn't rare in my family, and my uncle was really into peyote back in the day. Again, it makes for one of my family's famous stories (http://personal.strawberii.net/story6.html), so it's all good XB.

I only regularily use caffeine and weed. I'd do acid a few more times, I might do E one or two more times, but a part of me wonders why bother... I have the occassional beer, but I have no interest in getting any more then the slightest buzz. I would like to try growing opium poppies and harvesting opium for myself to smoke.

I really can't stand when someone says the word "drug" in any connection with cannabis. Really. And I actually don't like the mushrooms (or any other natural being)drawn into that category, either.

On the "psychedelic mushrooms" thing, I think it can be safely assumed that the writer refers to psilocybin mushrooms, which are almost invariably not poisonous. Rather than mushrooms of the species Amanitas Muscaria, which are, indeed, very poisonous. They will make you trip out though...as you DIE!! Or at least get real sick.

And I would disagree with the acid comment, at least, if you consider a "rollercoaster ride to hell" a bad thing. I love acid. Because it is isnanely fun.

Anyway, I smoke weed, sometimes eat mushrooms and LSD. I might do coke...might. And might do pure heroin, because physically, it actually isn't that bad for you...aside from addiction. Or I would smoke opium. I'd do MDMA, too, and probably exstacy.

Idone everything on that list. Ionly recommend three of them.

Let's see: I've done all the drugs on that list, except for heroin but I was seriously considering trying it when I finally got off the road to hell (otherwise known as active addiction) and got my ass clean. Oh, add speed (amphetamines as opposed to methamphetamines) and Special K (ketamine) to the list of drugs I used.

Now, I only use caffine and nicotine. Been clean since 1 Dec 2004 and loving every minute of it!

Trust a recovering drug addict on this: as 'good' as you might feel on drugs, it's nothing compaired to the real 'good'.

Hah! I'll take anything I can get my hands on, and I have 'cept for heroin. Needles bother me. Right now my drug of choice is crack and weed, it makes my eyes bleed. Caffiene is basically useless. One good blast of meth usually does the trick for me. And the rest of the list is good when you're out partying/clubbing. But don't forget about prescription drugs like Vicodins... those are good also.

From the list I've taken, and do take, caffiene, nicotene, alcohol, marijuana, and mushrooms.
