Although this is probably only because you can't know if the dead person gives his/her consent or not... ;)

And because certain religious and/or conservative people wouldn't like it...

The Government should butt out of this altogether. Simply slap down a "Gays can have legal union", and problem solved. Marriage, since it is an institution of religion, holds therefore no say in any of this, and everyone wins.

Forbidding gays to marry, however, is therefore a suppression of religion in the broader sense.

We're here, we're gueer, we're kicking Bush's ass!

I'll take gay marriage any day.
