Yeah, this be my first post, so deal with me here.

Okay, so basically theres this guy whos in a few of my classes who hangs around me and my friends and lately his behaviour has been getting stranger and stranger. He hangs around us in biology because no one else wants him and my friends are getting fed up with him and are now basically mocking him/excluding him/flaming him/critizising everything he says (his gf, his "frequent emo bashing", "sex life" so on...)
He says that stuff to be cool, none of ou believe this...crap?
Yeah, now a couple of days ago, during a bio experiment in which everyone excluded him out of, I had a blood nose (...), I came back to find my friends looking at him in disgust while he was carving his girlfriends name into his arm with an unsterilised craft knife. :headbang:. When he started to "draw" the swastika into his arm, I took and broke the craftknife.

Me and B.Dogg (friends nickname) are starting to feel sorry for this guy, and want to help, but my other friends just want him to die. Any advice one could give?

He's found a really unhealthy way of atracting attention. Talk to him about getting counciling, but if he doesn't want help, there's nothing you can do.

Yeah, some (need suitable word for a bad lesbianish looking personification of a bad breast implant) is his girlfriend. About staying away from him...Yeah he went to hang around on the other table, and 2 days later a guy on the other table paid us (yes true story) to take him back.
Don't ask me where the teacher stands on this. The "guy" is in the bad books after scoring 0% in the mid year exam.

From what hes told me, screwed. His stepdad believes hes too immature to own a car because he "drives too recklessly on racing games" (GT4, Forza etc...) and he has done drugs. His biological dad is a nut from what he's told me but most of the stuff he says I believe is attention-seeking, reputation "improving" bullshit and everyone else knows it.

WOW thats really sad about his stepdad not letting him drive because of racing games which I purposefully crash in all the time but I still drive.

More likely though that his step-dad thinks he is not fit to drive, and uses that as an excuse.

Assuming your school's not total crap, there should be a counselor or maybe even a nurse to report his behavior to. Some kind of adult intervention is needed, and it seems it won't be coming from his parents.

School is not total crap. Decile 10! (dunno if you know about that...= little/no outside support/High quality)...(Sorry, I have high pride for our awesome school. Westlake for life (single sex tho...:headbang: )

So you say that carving an ancient scandinavian symbol in your arm means you deserve to die? in that case by wearing any body jewelry you deserve to die aswell. not to mention wearing clothes for appearance.

And then about this guy. I know what it feels to be unaccepted everywhere I go, though don't really recall the actual feelings (I have blocked them away from my mind yrs ago). Being desolate really does leave the marks. No wonder one starts act weird if everyone else just basically kick you in the groin (metaphore) to get you on your knees and out of their nose. Well, he might get out of it with a few.. ummm.. billion scars in his arm and that times itself in the mind, as I did, by just losing his mind. Or then he's basically done for. One thing that helps if someone (you for example) starts to be his friend, asking about his life and supporting him. It's quite hard for a giant to do antfarming day after day, if you follow my lead.

Yeah, well. Been there, done that. Supporting the desolates. It's a hard work, and it really doesn't pay off, but still. If ppl think of your friendship on the basis of that then they're not worth being your friends. REALLY. Or then you don't need enemies. I think that at least 97% of school shootings/killings are done by these desolates losing their mind. So... It's healthy being his friend, even on the cost of something vain like social status. Besides, it really teaches you on the sympathy/empathy-field of life. :p

Like the guy from Power of One, the main guy in the end of the book got into a bar fight with him though and carved the union jack into arm and covered it with the other guys mucus so it would scar, cool book.

You're in highschool, right? Do the asshole thing and report him to the counselor.

Its sad really. His parents have probably ignored him most of his life. He also seems oblivious to ridicule, which points to a lifetime of verbal abuse, which for the ignored, is better than no attention at all.

You don't have to be his chum, but it would be best for all concerned if you 1) discouraged other kids from increasing his misery, and 2) talked to your high school councelor yourself and see what he/she can do for this kid. Carving your skin is a symptom of depression and compulsive bahavior. He may think he's "emo", but what he is really doing is asking for help. Apparently nobody at his home cares enough to get it for him, so he is acting out in more and more grandiose ways to call attention to his needs.

I really really feel for this kid. My nephew, although not self-destructive, has some of these same behaviors and dropped out of school because of the lack of friends there. His single-parent mom ignored him except to ridicule him. He talks incessantly about the most bullshit stuff you ever heard. He just makes stuff up, pretends to be an expert on everything, will argue with you on every single point you try to make, and after spending 2 hours in the car with this kid I was ready for a couple of strong drinks! I realize he was raised by a wolf (my sister), a self-indulgent, immature, bitch of a woman. And while its not the kid's fault that he is not socialized (which sounds EXACTLY like the kid in your class), and has no idea how to have a pleasant conversation, how to listen to others, and is completely self-absorbed due to lack of attention, he is old enough to socialize himself and needs to put an effort toward that end. If he doesn't, it WILL directly affect his ability to earn a living. Continued shaming and shunning will only hinder those efforts and you really need to talk to the other kids about finding their own maturity and being a little more understanding.
