I dont know about other schools but my high school 2 years ago had fairly pretty cheerleaders you know the normal kind. But now there are a bunch or fat girls and other girls who cant run or do anything athletic on the cheerleading team. I dont know about you but I think its kinda gross to watch some fat chick try to jump. The only reason the girls are on the team is because the school would get sued for discrimination if they dident allow atleast one ugly or fat girl on the team. I think that cheerleading is one aera where we need discrimination how about you? At pep rallys no one gets exicted to see fat or ugly cheerleaders and it hurts school sprit.

I think football jocks should also be allowed to stuff geeks like you into lockers. :)

Why does being ugly stop you from cheering on your team?

I presume by 'job they're meant to do' you actually mean 'play an important part in my wet dreams'.

generally the spot for the "fat girls" who wanted to cheer was the color guard... well, it was at my HS...

Ugly is relative. However, cheerleaders should be in decent physical shape to keep themselves from getting hurt or endangering others during practice or games.

I've always found the idea of 'cheerleading' to be rather insulting to a person's intelligence. I mean, if the thing you are watching is worth cheering, then you will cheer it. If it's not, then will these brats get out of the way so I can observe the spectacle in order to make snide remarks to the people on either side of me.

Oh, and yeah, I sorta agree that a cheerleader, if there is need for them at all, needs to be watchable, not the token repulsive girl.

As long as the girl is physically able to perform cheers that the rest of the squad can do, there's not much you can do about it. Besides, cheerleaders aren't meant to really be eye-candy. They're meant to motivate the team with CHEERS, not BOOBS and ASS.

Thats just it THEY CANT they may run a bit and try to jump but in the end all they do now is wave pompoms its really boring the backflips and front flips are gone so are all the aerial things and that was the cool part Its not like I stare slack jawed at the cheerleaders and I am mad NOT (sorry that was wrong) becuase now they arent as hot. I am upset that they dont do any interesting routines now.

They'd have to do the same thing if a girl with osteoporosis or some other debilitating condition joined the squad. If your school's squad isn't a nationally competitive one, then things aren't going to change. The only hyper-selective squads are the ones aiming for competitions.

And thats why being politically correct sucks everything has to be fair and some times fairness really sucks

it probably has more to do with insurance rates than PC. having cheerleaders do gymnastic routines without real gymanastic training and without gymnastic precautions (like mats) puts cheerleaders at an unacceptably high risk for serious injury. taking a tumble from the top of a human pyramid down to the wooden gym floor is all too likely to end up with a huge insurance payout.

Look, I know it hurts when a girl says she won't go out with you. You may be tempted to try to hurt her back, like by calling her fat or a slut or a dike. But part of growing up is learning to accept that not all girls will want to go out with you, and that you need to learn to respond to this with a bit of dignity and maturity because otherwise you're not likely to get any other girl to go out with you either.

Those cheerleaders you deem "ugly" are probably still loved by others, namely their friends, family etc. They aren't supposed to be your personal eye candy at games you jerks. As long as they're physically fit to perform then they should be allowed on the team.

As long as they are physically fit enough to preform the cheer, I wouldn't care.
Take note though, I didn't say they had to be skinny, just fit to preform it along with the others.
