Not sure if this thread was done before... anyway.

I know we all studied this in Social class, but I want to know what you guy think about it.

Here's my stand point... for assimilation.

1. If everybody adopts a universal language (English) in the society, there would be more communication between the people.

2. If everybody adopts same laws as the anglo community, there won't be any religious conflicts such as Hutterites getting the right to not place their pictures on their IDs.

3. There would be more patriotism if everybody shared the culture. Canadians call themselves Dutch-Canadian, French-Canadian but Americans don't call themselves Dutch-American or French-American, just Americans.

Sorry, but the whole point is moot. This has a very unlikely chance of occuring...especcially if its a change to the "white man's" society.

Because as we all know : the white man is evil and he enslaved the africans and killed the indians (oops! Native Americans) and is corrupt, fat and rich

And politically, the more stress there is between the "races" , the more power the politicans get.

It would be nice if everyone embraced the Western Society as it really is, as the High points as well as the low points are found in the Western History.

Also, it would take to long and the current American populace doesnt have that long of an attention span... Sorry

Why English?

Why not Spanish, Arabic or Mandarian/Cantonese?
