If you are, then Apocolypse...
Xavier may be a powerful mutant, but seriously, Apocolypse kicked some ass. Although he mentioned being as far beyond mutants as they were beyond regular people... but that could just be huberus.

I think the first unmoved mover (don't blame me for the concept, blame Aristotle) is far beyond any powers (and as such, hasn't got any powers). Now if that isn't mutating: move something into being without moving. So, the universe is the most powerful mutant. Oh, and to stay geeky: Wolverine, for all the mentioned reasons...and because he is soooo cooooollll w00t ...and so forth:p Oh and the Hulk, he can grow in strenght infinitely, that's worth a something!

At least in theory, it would probably be Apocalypse, since he has approximately every mutant power not reserved for Magneto. That being said, Apocalypse has the inexplicable ability to screw up his ambitions royally, so practically, his he's not the most powerful mutant because his abilities are outweighed by bad judgment.

That being the case, I'd probably say that the most powerful mutant is Xavier. Not only is he immensely powerful, being probably the only mutant who could possibly toe off with Phoenix or Apocalypse one on one and survive (not necessarily win), but he's also a much more sage and reflective thinker than either one of those: Phoenix is just unbridled savagery, whereas Apocalypse has a built-in dunce cap. He not can outmuscle most mutants; he can outthink them as well.

I like versatility in mutants and superheroes. Therefore, I'm going to go with Spider-Man. Not only is he a mutant of great ability in his own right, he's weilded the Phoenix Force, become Spider-Hulk, been a host for the symbiote later known as Venom, and become a human spider. Not only that, but he's intelligent.

He may not be the most powerful, but he's up there IMO.

I just have to say that those who think Magneto is so kickass, think of the mutants with Telekinesis. They have magneto's power, but it applies to all matter, not just magnetic substances.

The funny thing is we had a huge discussion on my track team and we decided. That the most powerful mutant it Pheonix, because she incorporate Jean's psychic ability and the pheonix's power.

Now the coolest mutant definitely was Gambit, becasue he owned mutant's with just his bow staff skills and then finished them with his powers. And the hair rocks it hard time

Batman.
:P Har har.

I'ma say Apocalypse... though is he a mutant? not just a being of rather large power? when it comes to sheer physical power, Juggernaut must rank up there, but if it comes to a more esoteric power, then of all the "practical" mutants (ie, a step down from the really quite silly powers) then it's probably Magneto or Xavier.
Romanar
01-06-2006, 23:13
Xavier's portayal is very uneven. He's done some impressive stuff, but he's also been taken down pretty easily, even allowing for his physical limitations. I'm not that familiar with Apocolipse, and Phoenix seems more like a cosmic force, so I vote for Magneto.

And of course, there was Philip K. Dick's "Golden Man"... he had a bunch of odd mutations that for the most part were deficencies, but added together, made him unstoppable.

He was:

Lacking most of a human brain. Unable to meaningfully communicate in any way.

Able to see clearly into the near-future, with only a dim perception of the present and no memory of things past.

Capable of exerting himself to acts of greater strength and speed than average humans.

Completely, literally golden in appearance, with all the beauty and physical perfection of a Greek sculpture.

Um... maybe the internet has steered me wrong-- While at one time a religious collector, I stopped trying to collect and follow the X- titles shortly after Age of Apocalypse. But I thought I read (Wikipedia, I think) something about... in the original Dark Phoenix storyline it was a cosmic force that joined with Jean Grey, but over time they eventually re-jigged it so that there's sort of a paradox? Jean Grey-- the mutant/human existed in a future where she evolved to be such a powerful telepath that she became one with all of the universe's psychic energy (first present, then past and future) thereby transcending time and space and becoming the Phoenix force which became eternal and cyclical. So when Phoenix joined with Jean Grey, it was actually the (now-)eternal aspect of Jean Grey re-combining with her discreet self as she existed in regular time and space. Which *would* make Phoenix (Jean Grey) the most powerful Homo Sapiens Superior in the Marvel universe.

Magneto controlls magnatism, some radio waves, electricity to a degree, gravity to a degree (enough to create a wormhole), and is a latent telepath.

If he focused hard enough, he could cancle out the what makes atoms function (the magnetic dipoles that is).

Of course that is just a bit silly isn't?

Most powerful mutant of all time is Mr. I of the Great Lake X-Men (formerly Great Lake Avengers, but had to change their name due to threat of a law suit.

Mr. I can not die and will always live. He will always come back.

Phoenix, who can halt the movement between life death would not be able to affect him.
Galactus, a being of pure cosmic energy that will cause the next Big Bang, could never feed on all his energy and cause him to cease to be.
The Infinite Gauntlent couldn't dispel the energy that makes up his atoms.
Death herself can't touch him.

He is one of the few Omega mutants.

In terms of raw power though, it's Franklin Richards, son of Sue and Reed Richards (F4).
When he had all his powers, he could make alternate realities.

Of course the best mutant of all time is Squirrel Girl, who was created by the famous comic artist Steve Ditko (he also made the not as well known character of Spider-Man)
Yes, Squirrel Girl, who has all the powers and ability of a squirrel.
She is not only the most beloved hero in SHIELD (spy agency like U.N.C.L.E. or MI-6, only not as much of a joke), but she has already defeated Thanos (the real one), Dr. Doom (not a Doom-bot), and a former herald of Galactus.

Go read the GLA: Misassembled mini series (fastest death of a new hero after joining a team in the history of comics) and then the GLX-Mas.

Actually, apparently there was a storyline in which it is revealed that the Beyonder is only about as powerful as your average Cosmic Cube.

Which means that the Infinity Gauntlet is more powerful.

As is the Living Tribunal.

What I wonder about is Captain Universe. We really never have seen exactly what his limits are, but he has beaten Magneto and Juggernaut with relative ease.

I'm assuming this is in the X-Men realm of things. I've only seen the third movie, so I'm not familiar with everyone. I'm going to have to say the most powerful mutant is Jean Grey (or is it Gray?) when she's under the sway of her Phoenix personality or whatever you would call it. Didn't it say she was the only level 5 or class 5 or whatever mutant known? I'm assuming that means she's the most powerful then.

It's no use to be overly poqerful with one element and then be worthless with all others. I have to say Apocalypse. Though Shadowcat is pretty powerful in the sense that she is Wolverine's protégé and she can phase... She disrupts electrical currents and that is what every living beings body is made of. She steps and stays in someone long enough she can kill them. Since someone went off and named a non-mutant I'd have to say Sailor Moon is powerful. That Silver Crystal can destroy plantes (If you watched Live Action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon that is what happend to the past earth and moon), heal, or get rid of enemies.

Was it just me, or did X-men 2 really seem like it should have been subtitled, "Each mutant is more badass than the last!"

Seriously, it was like each scene featured a reason why THIS mutant is the number one badass motherfucker of the universe. Well, except for Cyclops. It's good that he gets to mack on Jean, because that poor bastard got seriously screwed over in the super-powers department. I mean, pink eye lazers? In the Age of Apocolypse, an immortal mutant servant of Apocolypse revolted against his master because he was too harsh. He Cloned a mutant to take down Apocolypse with the genetic material of Jean Greay and Scott Summers.

Nathan Summers, a pyro/tele kinetic in full command of his almost limitless abilities. In the Age of the Apocolypse serries he succeeded in taking Apok down with Magneto's(he was the good guy in this whacked universe) help - Magneto actually finished Apok by ripping him in half.

being omega level doesn't mean your all powerful in fact class five is just another name for a powerful class four

You are wrong ... Professor X is Level Four and the Pheonix defeats him in X-Men III. Professor X said himself in the movie that Jean Grey is the ONLY
Class 5 mutant that he has ever meant.

i agree they did say class five which also means omega level but was only meant as a joke to classify powerful class fours they didn't look into that in to that before they made the movie

I didn't hear them say anything about the omega level. They said that the Pheonix could do " anything " she could think of. She soundly defeats Professor X and even gives Magneto plause. The only one that can even get near her is Wolverine and that because Jean Grey cares for him.

OMEGA: Omega mutants are those with the ultimate power, the baddest of the bad, the supermen of urban myth. 'Omega' is not a scientific classification for Homo Superior, but a popular label that is usually applied to powerful alphas. 'She is an Omega' and 'I have the Omega power!' are mutant slang terms to talk about how 'cool' someone or his or her powers are. Omega, flatscan (derogative for human, does not 'spike' in the electroencephalogram to detect mutants), gene-joke (derogative for mutant), etc, are new terms one can hear in the streets of New York when mutants are talked about.

What Mutants? Professor X and Magneto are very high level mutants themselves.

for one really powerful mutants such as phoenix have been known to build mental barriers around there powers so that there power don't consumes then or to make sure they don't hurt anyone

few like phoeix break there mental barriers and tap into there full potential and there powers consumes them making them a threat to everbody in there path if you select a really powerful alpha(xavier magneto) and they metally break the mental barriers created by themselves they would have power rivaling if not surpassing the one of phoenix

and one time magneto actually killed an incarnation of the phornix

According to Xavier in X-Men III the Pheonix's power is potentially unlimited.
The movies normally change somethings for example in Spiderman his webbing comes out of his wrists instead of web shooters.

Not so well known as she didn't make it into the movies but in the comics she did alter the whole of reality. (see House of M...although she was insane at the time...)

There is much beyond the Movie Universe that you have yet to understand...

Besides, even in the movie it was apparent that Magneto was getting his powers back and Xavier wasn't exactly dead.

They tricked you, accually he didn't die in X III , there is a secret, very short clip at the end of the Credits showing Professor X in a hospital bed recovering from his wounds.

Magneto will be back because at the end of the movie he moved the metal chess piece a little with his powers. So the cure apparently temporary.

lobo is pretty cool but colossus can take him

Read Marvel Vs. DC. Wolverine beat Lobo.

Okay though, here's my list. (Unaided. That means no Infinitey Gauntlent)

1. Galactus- Phoenix (they're kind of two sides of the same coin. I don't know if one is more powerful than the other though)

2. Molecule Man

3. Those Guardian dudes from Green Lantern

4. The Vision

5. Papa Smurf
