Sorry, this has to be one of the best games in existance, even to a point where it might be educational as well.

Not my fault if you can't afford a $600 (or less) machine straight from the store. This game does not look computer intensive, and even if it was, even the most standard of computer from Dell and HP are coming with 512-1 GB of RAM, well over 2GHz processors, and good cooling. A half-decent video card will only run you another $100-150 USD.

But getting a computer (mine broke recently), isn't particuarly high on my list of priorities at the moment now I no longer have uni work.

:D Water an computers love each other. So much so that after a little trist they have no time for your petty concerns.

And Will Wright probably does have a decent laptop, but laptops are as a rule never as good as computers, and if they game were really intensive EA would have him run it on a computer in odrer to ensure maximum possible performance.

Fable didn't and it didn't deliver, nor even showcase the myriad of features it was said to have. Though Fable 2 is, again, said to have them and then some.

Wright has showcased the game, not just a video, but the gameplay itself and people have gotten their hands on it. It is no pipe dream as much as it sounds like one in description.

My church banned this game because it's of the Devil. Have fun in hell you evolutionaries. :P

Actually I see that this game promotes intelligent design (the evolution of the creatures is directed by the user rather than a product of random mutation) so I might be able to convince them that this is a holy game and necessary to combat the evil militant atheist propaganda.

Saw it, and it's cool, up until you get the "UFO."

I realize this is supposed to be fun, but I really want a game capable of going to the stars to have an engine that I can build ships with (like the creature-maker).

If i remember correctly, I think that you CAN customize your ship to make it however you want, just like you can with creatures and buildings, etc.

Too right, just remember STALKER, which will probably be released after spore anyway. both promise a myriad of features, and will probably be missing most of them. spore will be a hit, partly because of the hype surrounding it, which hasnt been tainted by endless setbacks, and partly because stupid people will buy it regardless, cos its a bit like the sims. If they can deliver on the promises though, it will be just wonderful.

BUt for gods sake dont buy a dell machine to play it on! I had to upgrade from a computer that was better than the ones they are selling now, and they charge more than I payed for it 3 years ago. everyone who upgraded for oblivion should have no problem with spore anyway. I think pretty is about the only superlative not used to describe it. but who needs good looks when you can design your own manbearpig?

Reminds me, need to buy a new desktop, this one is about two years old now.

Only time can tell its success and worth, but from early indications Spore sounds like it'll be a great game if you're into the Civilization/Sim type games...which I am!

Haha. That sounds like me. After two years, I start feeling edgy, and need to get a new computer. :p It may be running fine, but I know I'll need a new one for something. :)

Notebooks are very powerful now a days, can easy get one with 256mb graphics card, 2gig ram, 4ghz, 300 gig harddrive.

Plently enough for games.

I'm sure you meant that to be reassuring, the The Sims sucked. Horrifically. Simcity was good at first until it became micromanagement hell in the sequels.

With a revolutionary new idea and interface, it was bound to be good.

It was a disappointment.

With games; Don't get your hopes up. Ever. Be happy with whatever pleasant surprises come along, but don't believe the hype, because the end product is almost never what is intended on paper. Applies to anything, really.
