I was watching Hardball, and they had on a former CIA Operative, Bob Bear. He states that Iran is after Nuclear Weapons, and that the leader first target will be Israel. Paliestine may also help Iran. The only way to stop him, is to bomb Iran. However, here's the catch. 1.) Our troops are scretched out, so taking on a third country would be near to impossible. 2.) We get our oil from Iran, so if we bomb them, there goes our Economy. 3.) If we bomb them, the rest of the arab world will come after us, with more terrorist attacks etc. etc. So we're caught between the hard place and the rock. Iran litterly has us by the nutsack. This is the start of World War III.

Nah, I doubt it. I still can't believe that Iran would start a pointless nuclear war by attacking Israel if they get nukes. It is a lose-lose scenario.

No, the reason they want nukes is so that they can continue to use terrorism and deter any military response that terrorism might bring.

If our current CIA couldn't get the information correct on Iraq...what makes you think an EX-CIA man will get Iran correct?

Just rumors, gossip and speculations. If they can research a nuclear weapon on their own, they deserve it. Why should we be the hypocrites with the bombs and say others can not have them?

I'd just like to point out that its a common misconception that we get most of our oil from the Middle East. The majority of our oil doesn't come from Iran, or any Middle Eastern country, but actually from Canada.

The Middle East combined is just the largest supplier to the world in general.

The United States in its history has never taken direct military action against a test-verified nuclear-armed country with ballistic missiles. The simple logic being that the US unwilling to see a mushroom cloud over a major American city. The Iranians are rationally banking on this continuous deterent against America military action - conventional or nuclear.

Just look at North Korea, they claim to have working weapons and the US sabre-rattling about regime change ceased almost immediately.

Strategically, for Iran, aquiring nuclear arms is a defensive/survivalist goal.

As for the old "they're a bunch of ragtag Islamic maniacs and Israel is going to a goner if they get their dirty hands on nukes!!!!111" - the mullahs may have considerable clout in Iran, but they run the whole show. All that talk about wiping Israel off the map is rheoteric, like the US talking about 'spreading freedom and democracy'. Its constantly said but no concrete action is taken.

Personally, I'd celebrate when Iran announces their nuclear test this year.

Not necessarily, but there is more then one person in the Iranian government - And Ahmadinejad is not the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei is.

I, for one, am hoping we'll have an administration that is willing to glass a nuclear armed Iran if they continue to use terrorism against us like they did in the Khobar towers bombing.

Israel could make Iran their bitch in about a week given provocation. Iran isn't that stupid.

Right now...Iran cannot hit the United States directly.
