Marines 5, Predators 0

A former Marine distinguished himself yesterday in an display of courage and skill that brought a band of predators to their doom. A former cook in the USMC, Thomas Autry, successfully fended off five attackers that were attempting to rob him.
Looks like this guy took his basic training seriously and might have picked up a few skills on the side. Isn't it great to see these kinds of stories instead of the ones that end up with a dead victim and a police department unable to find the predators?
"My first instinct was to run, but they cornered me, so I had no other choice than to defend myself," Autry said.
The suspects caught up with Autry, who yelled for help and pulled a knife out of his backpack. He kicked the shotgun out of one of the attacker's hands and stabbed both a 17-year-old girl who jumped on him and a man who also attacked him.

That's why those scum hunt in packs. Strength in numbers ... until you run into someone trained to kill.

There was already a thread about this.
But yeah, it's still great.

You know, there's hyperbole and then there's hyperbole.
I can practically hear that deep-voiced guy who does the voice-overs for Steven Seagal movies in my head when I read that.

Imagine the scumbags surprise? There were four of them. Two had guns.
All of a suddden, the victim stops running, kicks guns away and succesfully fends them off with a POCKETKNIFE.
Talk about tables turning.

I used to write up awards for my Marines using similar language. I've lost a little of my vocabulary, but award citations are always very superlative. I just thought it was appropriate -- The guy deserved a Bronze Star, at least.
[edit]
He even has just the right amount of humility.
Autry was honorably discharged in 1992 after serving in Operation Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia. When told that many people consider him a hero for his actions, Autry disagreed.
"The heroes are those guys out there fighting for us every day and not getting respect," he said, referring to military personnel fighting in Iraq and elsewhere. "That [killing the attacker] wasn't admirable, it was fight or flight — and I tried the flight."

Wasn't that the plot from Con-Air.. :p That movie was so terrible, it was almost good..
The thread title made me think some group of Marines had gotten high and shot up a hangar full of Predator Drones or something, though..

As an update to this story, the bedwetters are starting to weigh in. I mean the lawyers, to be exact.
The first bit of nonsense was from the mouthpiece for one of the thugs. This lawyer claimed that we needed to wait for all the facts and treat these children like people. He didn't mention the shotgun or the handgun that these children were alleged to have had pointed at their intended victim.
His client is being held without bail.

Innocent until proven guilty? Oh yeah. This is America. We don't believe that any more...
