A question for Nascar Fans

I have a question for Nascar fans, what is the big deal about Dale Earnhardt Jr.? I mean seriously, before every race I always hear some redneck go "I think Dale is going to win!" I mean let's be honest, he may have been good on the Busch series, but in Nextel, he only won 17 races. He haven't even won a Championship yet. I think the only reason he get's this much pubilicty is that he's the son of the late Earnhardt Sr. I'm sorry to break it to you Jr.'s fan, but he's a mediocre driver.

I hate Nascar :). Change channel the second it comes on. Prefer F1.
I'll sometimes watch Indy racing, just to see how Scott Dixon is doing.
Not bad

Alot to do with his daddy, yes, but I think he's a good enough driver with a mediocre crew. He has won a race so far and is 6th in points.

Plus his car is red. Red cars are good.
Cannot think of a name

I liked his dad's car because it was black.

17 wins and being in the 'final 10' or whatever they're calling that new points ridiculousness thing they've got going on pretty consistantly isn't mediocre. There are 40 cars in that field and seventeen win in the time that he's run doesn't put him in the middle of that pack.

I'm not really a fan of his, and comparing the focus on him before his dad died to now makes a pretty obvious correlation. I'm a fan by default of one of the drivers through a connection no one would believe on an internet forum (and they have no reason to, so why bother) even though it's not my favorite form of racing. I'll watch it if it's on but I hardly ever follow a season.

Besides, that's what fans do-you'll still find Saints fans that will say "This is our year" every year regardless of anything. They're fans. It's what fans do.
