This is the single greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I am exctatic beyond words right now! I'm IN! I am officially an infantryman in the Canadian Armed Forces!

I've been working on enlisting for years, and finally, all my work will have paid off. I am going to be leaving my West Coast home in British Columbia for a six-week Basic Training period in Quebec; this is my first time EVER crossing the country!

I have no clue as to what to say. I'm almost ballistic, I'm so bloody happy! :D

You see an aircraft, hit the ground. It's probably American.

LOL!!!! Thats cruel but true...

Sometimes I wonder if we (the Brits) should be wearing bullseyes when doing combined ops with the yanks!

Have fun. A friend of mine is nearly done his training at St. Jean, says it's hard work.

I think I'm happy for you, though I can't quite tell. Might as well be, I suppose.

Go you! *w00t*

Thank you very, very much! I almost can't believe this is even happening. It's like a dream come true...only I've dreamt of it so many times!:p

He has a point. US aircraft occasionally have a habit of shooting up Coalition troops.

Plus the thought of the words "Canadian air force" makes me laugh. Not that I'm in any position to be judging.

Good luck with your new job.

I don't think you can actually say that dying can be a habit....well not until we've figured out resurection! :)

You have to work at becoming an infantryman? Ok...

Yeah, I've spoken to a few Veterans about that. They say very similar things about it. They INSIST it isn't healthy. :p

Trust me: to get into the Canadian Armed Forces, there are enough tests (spanning months, mind you) to make you go nuts. I know America is pleading for more troops, and so it might go a hell of a lot quicker down there, but we're still RELATIVELY peaceful up here. One peacekeeping mission doesn't constitute as heavily-involved in a warzone, especially since we've got a half a dozen other countries there with us.

It good to know that people aren't put off by all the negative publisity about the forces. Well Done (http://smilies.vidahost.com/otn/party/party.gif)

To everyone who's actually bothered to reply to my explosion of happiness: thanks again! :D

I'm glad to see so many people actually congratulating me for this thing! Most family member go, "Well, I'm proud of you for doing what you want...but the military...?"

It gets redundant, fast. :p

Regardless, I really do appreciate what you guys have said here. It's always nice to have family members support you...but it's even better when people you don't even know from all over the world are there to congratulate you on something they had no clue about five minutes ago. That comraderie is awesome! :)

Congrats. It's not what I'd want to do myself, but it's good you've found a career you're excited about.

Also: try not to get killed.
