Hypothetically if your media room floor wreaked of a bizarre cocktail of spilt beer and bong water, what would one use to remove said odour?

Fire or sorcery.

Call the police and explain the whole situation. They'll take it from there.

Baking soda. Sprinkle liberally onto dry surface. Leave for half hour, vacum, repeat.

Well, if it's carpeted, probably a steam-cleaner. Or you could just pour an entire bottle of Febreze onto it and hope for the best, I guess.

Smear something that smells worse over it.

Now what can you smear that smells really really bad....

This seems to result in the least fire and/or prison shower adventures.

Well, that might work. She has been dead for a few years now. But you have to dig her up.

Think smaller, and closer to home....

True, so long as the carpet, surface you apply it to is dry, worst case scenario is you are no worse off.

It should work if you make sure to leave it for 30-60 minutes then repeat a couple of times - it works by absorbing the odour so be sure that the carpet is dry (really important) and dont rub the power in, just let it sit on the surface (do the floor in sections if possible so you dont have to walk on the baking soda before vacuming), it will probably need at least two attempts. Also it would be a good idea to place some dishes with a fair heaping of baking soda in them, about the room (preferably at different heights). This will help eliminate the 'ambient odour' (ie the odour in the air not the furnishings).

If smoking is allowed in the room (ie cigarette smoking) it might be useful to have someone burn some human hair to cover up any lingering trace smells...

Good luck!

I... a friend... a hypothetical friend, tried three cans of air freshener and it now just smells like a Fortitude Valley toilet... The reference is lost if you live outside of Brisbane, Australia, but can be estimated by learning "The Valley" is the intersection between the sex district, seedy club district and China Town
