I am but I don't know about the rest of you and if there are any I'd like to know before going further.

no but i'm considering training to be one. sounds like a pretty interesting job where you get to conceptualise things, and see them built in a practial and tangiable way, you can be creative while having to set limits and work with the rules, and can work on a varitety of different projects, no one ever quite the same...

might be a romanticised or nieve view, but i really think i'd like to be an architecht :)

I'm civil engineer - actually, ingénieur civil (swiss style), and I consider architects to be my natural enemy :D

I am married to one, that must be worth something (She is not a practicing architect though, she has converted to communications.)

Pure Metal,
It can be fun but also frustrating. The fun part is designing something and seeing it get built. The frustrating part is getting someone elses design and having to bring it up to code or getting an artsy-fartsy design and having to make it structurally sound. Still if you're considering it, then try it but do it quick because there is said to be a switch going on right now from AutoCad to Revit and many firms are looking for people with Revit training right now. Don't want to get trained and find out you're no longer in demand. You might also want to learn some ArchiCad. Not so big here but some firms use it.

Some Strange People,
And here I thought you were my friend :(

You mean real architects, right, and not people who draw floor plans of underground bunkers for their future military dictatorship during boring lectures?

No, I don't know any but I design a mean bunker...

Now that's strange, because that's exactly what civil engineers say about architects...

Anyway, I think there's a difference in the definition of architect and civil engineer between the US and Europe (and most certainly Switzerland), so I won't shout too loud...

I designed our (future) house. :D (Civil?) Engineer then made the structural plans. Nothing problematic there as I have some understanding of it. Anyway we wanted a simple and cheapish solution, nothing too artsy.

I had 12 courses (1,5 ECr each) of Graphics and Architecture in high school. (art high school, one third of the 3 year studies were special courses) I considered studying it but graphics won.

I studied architectural graphics in high school, and even participated in a summer program in architecture at a local university while in high school. Ended up going into education later though. Ah well.

I saw a building once.

Hey ... why do they call them buildings when they're already built?

(careful with that joke, it's an antique)

Wasn't Mike Brady an architect?
