The cost of an average friday night?

Just out of curiosity, I'd like to know what's the average budget needed for a friday evening/night in your country? For comparison, that of mine in Finland:
1 x 0,7l of 32% Suomiviina (=Finland-booze) 9,50euro
12 x 0,33l 4,5% Karjala (=Karelia-beer) 10,50e
18 x Chesterfield cigarettes, red, 3,20e
1 x Colt, lighter, 1,90e
=25,10e.

stuff is expensive in this country, plus i'm quite big/need a lot of booze to get pissed... so 9 times out of 10 i would spend at least £35 on an evening out down the pub, sometimes up to 40 or 50, back when i did drink
edit: that also depends on whether you count the weed for the evening too ;)
ah, student days....

Heh, pubs and bars are a different story completely... I drink in parties and in summer mostly in parks etc. It's rather hard for a 16-years-old to get into a pub in Finland without fake papers. Atleast with a baby-face like mine :p
And weed counts, of course! But it's also quite damn expencive in here, unfortunarely.

last proper night out i had maybe 9 doulble g&ts at £2.95, 3 pints of beer at about £2.75, 2 2-pint pitchers of long island iced tea between three of us (2-for-1 at £14.95), 1 morgan's and coke about £3 and dinner at about a tenner. so that'd be.... *runs off to find calculator*... tap. tap tap....tap. tap. tappety tap.... ummm 26.55 + 8.25 + 5 + 3 + 10 = £52.80. fuck me that's a lot of money. actually it might be a bit less cuz i used my staff card for the meal, the pitchers and the rum and coke. that's 35% off them. i can't work out %s, always get confused.

You are still lucky that you are in Finland. I'm 18, but still it's very hard and expensive to get some alcohol. I'm sure it's 1000 times easier/cheaper to get some drugs in the Netherlands.

...Yeah, there's that too sometimes. *cough*
I suppose it would be expensive, a night on the town, but the cost is kept down, for me at least, by having guys buy me drinks, and by living very close to my favourite hangouts, meaning I don't have to spend that much in bars, or on transportation and such stuff. So, I can get away with something like €15.
Um...
Hmmm....
Let's say an average night, then:
Meal at the Shan (2 Popadoms, Balti, Pilau, 2 pints of Cobra): £15
Pub (Pack of crips, 6 pints of Guiness): £18.50
Cigar: £6
OK, that's not an average night, it's a good one.
Anyway, TOTAL = £39.50
Yeah. It'd normally be less than that by about £10 or £15.
my people are a little to busy to have a night out

Let's see. Depends what time I go out, I guess...assuming I get to the pub at 7.30, it's likely to be:
5 pints @ £1.65 each
Entrance to club @ £4
2 more pints @ £2.50 each
Taxi home @ about £8/5
Couple of joints...maybe a couple of quid.
That comes to...maybe £20.

Weed = $20
Pizza = $10
Movies = $10
B&J Half Baked = $4
= $44
I find it funny that weed is easier to buy than beer, for a 16 year old. :p
And beer is really cheap around here, so you will get drunk while spending less than $20 *dances*

For me, usually under €8 because I don't like nightclubs, rarely go to pubs and in any case I always buy alcohol from off-licences rather than from bars. It's much cheaper that way. I would generally drink it in a friend's house.
I also avoid using taxis or public transport. I bring my bike everywhere.
Oh, not much.

Anyway, it's exam term. Friday night costs £2.50 for the evening meal and creates heck of a sleep deficit.

Seeing a few bands = £5
Couple of pints = £7.50
Half ounce of tabacco* = £2.50
Couple of cans of beer afterwards = £3.00
Call it £20
* or much more likely 'tobacco'.
Depends where I go. Usually £25-£30.

Yar, totally.
Big night out downtown in the funky happening clubs that most of the cubs here in Osaka would be wanting to do (and something I hate with almost every single fiber of my being) - cover charges start at 2000-3000 yen, drinks are 500-1000 yen, it's an all nighter so ya drink more - minimum 5000-6000 yen at least.
A good night out in one of my staple favorite bars/pubs/tachinomiya*/izakaya **- 4-5 beers @ 350-500 yen a hit, and maybe some pub grub, for around 2000-3500 yen.
The typical Friday hanging out with my fellow scuzzy gaijin cow-orker pals for a couple of beers after work by the back alley beer vending machine (yes Japan is a beautiful country - sometimes...) - 200-300 yen a beer x 2-3 beers, for less than 1000 yen.
Special get trashed nights out automatically double or triple the above.
(The current ex rate is about 110 yen to 1 $US, so figure $100+ for a splashy night out and $10-30 for a typical night out.)
* Literally "standing bar" - typical work-a-day bar in Japan.
** J-style pub or bar/grill .
Depends.
A night in with a couple of friends is $20, if we split the booze evenly.
A night out is $40-80. I drink a reasonable amount.
That said, I don't go out on Fridays; I work Saturdays. (but I have Sundays off, if I can be bothered doing anything.)

:eek:
That alone would make up for all of its faults, surely? :p
It all depends on how much I can sponge off friends:p . If I can't £20 for a couple of beers and a kebab

I'll take your word for it...how many drinks do you get for £20?
Next Saturday will be a night I'll be trying to remember for the rest of my life - start drinking as soon after 4.30pm as physically possible (last exam of uni - woo!), get home sometime around 5am. I'm expecting it to cost upwards of £80-£100.

Total just over £16. Phat.

At home/party
Beer 6 x 600 ml = 12 reais
Vodka 1 litre = 13,50
(I don't smoke and weed is not worth the risk)
So total = 25,50 reais = 8.9328 euros (converted here (http://br.finance.yahoo.com/currency/convert?amt=25%2C5&from=BRL&to=EUR&submit=Converter))
Going out (without skimping)
Cover charge/Entrance (male) = 20 reais
Food = 10 reais
drinks = 20 reais
Taxi = 15 reais
Total = 65 reais = 22.7698 euros
If you are female the entrance fee to clubs etc is normally half that of the charge for a man (Sex discrimination is good huh.)

You bet your sweet ass. Why do you think I've spent 15 years here? (Hint - 15 sober years in Japan has left it's ugly mark on a non-drinking friend of mine here.) And those beer vending machines are full of woners - 2 liter "cans" of beer, bottles of whiskey, rocket fuel horrible "sake", and more.
So let's see - tonight's (Saturday) carnage:
2 tall boys (500ml) after work bought at the kiosk in the station - 300/each and a shared bag of popcorn
1 more tall boy on the train home
- interlude for a nap -
2 500ml "Can Chu Hi"s (shochu, soda, lemon alca-pop sorta things) - 300 yen a pop.
Dinner - ramen with a couple of draughts - 1500 yen
2 more tall boys from the convenience store @ 250 yen each
Total = 3800 yen or roughly $US35 for 9 drinks, a snack, and dinner.

£4.50 on pub beer

about £18 quid, I believe. Friends of mine who aren't such lightweights regularly spend up to £30. The fools.

night in with a group of friends drinking, $5-10.
night out...depends. some nights out we hit up a frat or house party, which is $5. if I hit the bar...yeah. There is a reason why I pregame with 6 shots minumum. I'd say Kanabias estimate of 40-80 sounds about right.
and if I'm in a...um..."friendly" mood, sometimes a bit more....

Yes indeed, public drinking is both legal and (more or less) socially acceptable. Even extreme states of public intoxication generally won't land you in legal trouble - one only needs to take a late night train to see several passed out drunk businessmen.
It's even fairly safe - low crime rates (for the most part) and excellent public transport (although the trains do stop running around midnight).

Eh. Well, last time I had friends over, we demolished 36 beers and a bottle of Jameson's....and then there's food on top of that.

Obviously depending on how drunk I wanted to get, it varies. However, I live in a VEEEEEEEERY student-y area, so drinks are a lot cheaper than when I go home. Typically I'd start out at our local, have a couple of G&Ts and some shots, which comes to around £6-7. Then I move onto our themed pub "The Hobbit" and order a couple of pints of cocktail (Bilbo is my favourite, but I quite like Frodo). They're £4 a pint, or £3 during happy hour (which is when we normally go). This brings the total to around £12-15, with moderate drunkeness. We then head off to the skaggiest, but cheapest club EVER. We're talking pints/spirits & mixers for 50p each. I can easily get wankered on a Friday night for £15. And I mean wankered.
